I think the new Deicide has got a right raw deal on here tbh,i absolutely hated the last few albums, but i find myself listening to the new one a lot.Its nothing amazing, but a hell of a lot better than i expected.

I'd sooner take that last Morbid Angel album over it. Which isn't saying much.

Whilst the new MA isn't their best by a long shot either  there's far more to it than the new Deicide. Deicide are on Six Feet Under's level at this stage.

That Kriegsmaschine is the drummer from MGLA, yeah? Been meaning to give it a spin. I've been way off the pulse this year, was Spite's Antimoshiac this year though? That's killer, and Yob too, of course.

(all) both of them are from MGLA. they actually started Mgla as a side project.

Ya the MA and Deicide releases were poor overall. So much better music being produced by others these days that many of the old guard should call it a day...

Tomb Mold - Manor of Infinite Forms
Scorched - Ecliptic Butchery
Torture Rack - Malefic Humiliation
Ghastly - Death Velour
Devil Master - Manifestations
Malthusian - Across Deaths
Hyperdontia - Nexus of Teeth
Skeletal Remains - Devouring Mortality
Outer Heaven - Realms of Eternal Decay
Innumerable Forms - Punishment in Flesh
Cultes Des Ghoules - Sinister
1914 - The Blind Leading the Blind
Mammoth Grinder - Cosmic Crypt
Ataraxy - Where All Hope Fades
Archgoat - The Luciferian Crown

My best of the year are:

A Perfect Circle - Eat The Elephant
Pestilence - Hadeon
Napalm Death - Coded Smears and More Uncommon Slurs
Judas Preist - Firepower
Ghost - Prequelle

Disappointments are Alice In Chains, Clutch and COC

Beyond Creation - Algorythm
Horrendous - Idol
Obscura - Diluvium
Augury - Illusive Golden Age

Been a good year for proggy death metal

Been a strong year for black metal;
Immortal, Marduk, Watain, Craft, Wiegedood, Behemoth, Uada have all had strong releases so far

Wytch Hazel - II: Sojurn
Skeletal Remains - Devouring Mortality
Cauldron - New Gods
Haunt - Burst Into Flame
Witchsorrow - Hexenhammer
Of Feather and Bone - Bestial Hymns of Perversion (probably my top for the year)

and more I've forgotten about

Think it has been a decent year for traditional metal.  Priest, Eliminator, Gatekeeper, Seven Sisters, Haunt, and Cauldron were all good albums, especially the Eliminator, which is probably my favourite album of the year.

The Marduk one wins the year for me. They have been on a roll album wise for the last twelve years or so. Still, they really upped their game for Viktoria.

Jaysus, how did I leave that High On Fire album out of my list?

Also, this absolute monster of a record

Now it's time to put together the list...

Voivod - The Wake
Ondt Blod - Natur
Therapy? - Cleave
Pestilence - Hadeon
69 Chambers - Machine
Alkaloid - Liquid Anatomy
Ultraphonix - Original Human Music
Lygo - Schwerkraft
Windhand - Eternal Return
Bailer - Bailer

A decent year, I think, and I'll pretend AIC and Judas Priest didn't release anything to keep it that way.

Not many standouts for me but I would give Bloodbath a vote.
