I'll be buying the album as well.  Give the first minute or so of the track a listen, but will wait until I have the album before I listen to anymore.

Ya, cuntish. Song wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be and may get some younger heads into BM but no interest.

Aye. Not as bad as expected but there's nothing to it.

A decent main riff and some interesting vocals here and there but yeah, not much to get excited about. I think all I really need from Mayhem is DMDS. Ordo ab Chao was cool when it came out but it's not one I return to. Deathcrush is pretty good too, but I don't listen to it often. DMDS captures the entire mythology of the band for me with its monumental production, dark and memorable songwriting and Atilla's strange vocal delivery that takes some getting used to. It's a majestic thing.

Yeah DMDS all the way. I'll hear the odd cool bit from them here and there but can never sit through any of their recent stuff.

The only Mayhem I've listened to other than DMDS, which is brilliant, was Ordo, and I thought that was muck. Heard a few other pieces here and there but nothing that made me want to dig deeper into the discography

Obviously dunno when you spun it, but OAC is top class and has aged really well. After DMDS its the one I listen to most often these days, I'd say.

New track is fine, uninspiring, can't see it being on the shopping list.

Wolf's Lair Abyss and Grand Declaration Of War are all I bother with. Can't abide Attila's vocals so that rules most of their other stuff out for me. Even the Dead releases leave me cold. The instrumental version (From The Darkest Past?) of DMDS I can listen to, but that's as close as I get that album.

Same as, return to both of these frequently enough. Punctuate it a bit with grand declaration of war from time to time. While the vocals can be...interesting...the riffing on grand declaration is utterly bonkers in places. See crystalised pain in deconstruction for example.

Havent bothered me hole with the new track, last album I heard in full was esoteric warfare and I heard one song off daemon, both total snoozefests for me. Unless I hear unanimous fanfare for this I doubt ill even bother listening to the single

I loved Ordo when it came out but have rarely gone back to it. Still love what they did with it though. Soft spot for Deathcrush and Leipzip from being a 12/13 young fella. Chimera is tolerable and was surprisingly enjoyable the last time I threw it on but Maniac is cuntish.

My go to ones are AGDOW and OAC these days. Obviously TMDS is the pinnacle but I've almost worn it out over the years and rarely go for it these days. Most rectify that actually but anyway the last couple were not very interesting for the most part

Atilla's vocals are an integral part of what makes DMDS so special.
There's nothing like it at all.
It's the only one I really listen to nowadays. That album has everything.

This new one feels like it's in the same vein as the last one which is fine.

I threw on AGDOW last night after reading this and it's great and thinking about the criticism of the vocals which may be fair enough and all, I still can't imagine Attila doing better on it any more than I think Maniac would have suited DMDS.

Anyway I think they're both great
