No, not a sitcom based on the Scobes n Darragh shop, sadly - an 8 part US series about to hit streaming next week that "Delves into the emotional sagas and behind-the-scenes lives of iconic heavy metal bands and artists, offering an intimate look at the towering legends and unforgettable figures in the genre's history."

What's immediately caught my eye about this one, however, is the fact that it mentions not only Chuck/Death as being featured as an episode, but also NME and Hellion  -  definitely 2 bands who I haven't seen pop up in these type of things before. Very curious.

It's the Dark Side Of The Ring lads(who also made Hobo With A Shotgun). So it'll be well done hopefully.
NME were the band where the guitarist killed his mother I think?

Most of the episodes look underwhelming, entry level shit.

The NME and one other -can't recall off the top of my head,  look interesting.

Yeah, don't need to see the Priest/Pantera/Randy Rhoads episodes, but Plasmatics?Sign me up

It'll be the same as DSOTR, in that the majority of episodes will handle stuff that is well-known amongst those who have followed the subject for years, with maybe an episode or two that'll pique the curiosity of the more well-versed.

The Dark Side... fellas did a very decent job, I thought. The Von Erich stuff goes into more depth than the Iron Claw movie, for example. I'd be hoping they won't just regurgitate stuff that's common knowledge and already out there.

I can't be the only one who was hoping for the boys in the shop talkin' shite

 Scobes and Darragh on Disney would be the jaab!

Nice one Jamie, looking g forward to this... bar Sharon...

Haha....I think Darragh, like myself, would balk at any Disney prospect

6 episodes up: Randy Rhodes,NMe,Plasmatics, Death, Priest and Confess (an Iranian band).

Gonna give NME and Death a spin first and report back later.

Yeah, these are interesting, not sure how they'll go down with people. Both episodes focus very much on the human/personal aspect, and are actually quite sad in places.

Was worried the NME one would be a bit sensationalist but while it doesn't shrink from discussing the crimes obviously, It paints a far wider picture of the guy's struggles before and after. Similarly the Chuck one really focuses on his family life, goes into the death of his brother, his relationshop with his family  and his illness. The music is almost secondary in both cases, but covered enough to satisfy the nerd in me. The early NME live footage is nuts, a lot of the stuff is readily available on youtube but it's well placed.

The interviewees are well selected, rather than just random talking heads. All the surviving members of NME (and their manager, who seems like a knob), Chucks sister/fiancee/dad,DiGiorgio, Masvidal, Rozz etc. No unnecessary scene "experts" or people who weren't directly invovled for the most part.

I can definitely see people having an issue with footage of Chuck Schuldiner decorating the Christmas tree

Glad it's living up to expectations. Will get stuck in this week.

Sounds better than expected, then. Where is it being streamed?

Yah, I'll give it a bit of a look so. Trailer was shite tbh.
