Quote from: mickO))) on July 25, 2025, 10:40:50 AMDid Sabbath only play 3 times in Ireland? I saw a date from the early 80's, one in the mid 90's and then the farewell tour? I always assumed they played here loads of times like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest etc.

Twice I think.

Dalymount with Motorhead in 1983 where Gillian couldn't read the lyrics due to the dry ice and the 3 a few years ago. Did the Tony Martin fronted era play in Belfast?

Sabbath played Belfast in 2013 and it was class

Gary talks about that, said he just left Lizzy and couldn't deal with the drugs. He did help them audition though. Would have been class in fairness but ultimately Gary would have led the band and Sharon would have axed him.

Later Gary uses Bob Daisley and Don Airey during the 80s.

That's crazy that they only played here twice. I keep seeing things about a 1998 Dublin gig but can't find any info that the gig actually happened. At least it makes me feel a little bit better about never seeing them since my only opportunity was in a shitty outdoor venue in 2016. A venue that you couldn't even smoke in with it being outside and security walked around constantly telling people to put cigarettes out

This was a fantastic show.
Way better than their 3 Arena show, which was still killer.

It sounds daft now but the thing that caught me off-guard there was how heavy they sounded live. You're used to the recordings but they're coming out with modern amps and heavy tones and it sounded huge. Such a great gig.

Happy to have caught the reunion gig at Download in 2012. But truth be told, the Dio era always resonated more with me. Seeing Heaven and Hell in 2009 was more of a bucket list gig for me.

Would have liked to have seen an Ozzy solo show but never had the motivation. In the wake of his death, that's regrettable.

gotta agree with that

Loads of Ozzy shows popping up on YouTube.
I watched one from 1989 last night, Zak Wylde, Geezer Butler or his twin, don't know the drummers name.
Really good, no barrier at all, a real mixed crowd age wise.
Ozzy sounded great and looked like he was off his tits.

I never saw an Ozzy show live and only saw Sabbath at the 2005 Ozfest/Download weekend.

Would have been Randy Castillo and Geezer in 89, Inez joined in 90, but Ozzy still got Daisley in to record No More Tears.

That's him, massive kit and more stick twirling than Tommy Lee.

Castillo was no age when he died too. Amazing drummer.

Wasn't Castillo with Mötley Crüe when he died. Only mid 50's, like.

He did the album with them, but got sick, so Samantha Maloney from Hole did the tour. Think he was slated to go back to Ozzy (and Sabbath if Ward couldn't do the ozzfest schedule)
