Funny, every bog standard rocker/casual gig goer will be asking the same for the opposite reason.
Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

Oh lord this'll be full of them, won't it.

Kinda related to Whiskey/weekend warrior types, I remember going to see a mate's covers band twenty years ago. The used to open with Thin Lizzy's "Are You Ready". They are playing a venue that typically wouldn't have rock bands on, and after they finished the song, they had some casuals shout "play some good music, like Thin Lizzy, not that shite".

Ah lads, seriously

They're on the very bottom line of the poster.

Don't forget to add a €10 for ticket bastard fees.

Can't really decide if I'll go or not. I like the atmosphere of a big gig and the supports are great, also the cheaper tickets aren't outrageous for 2 days. However, I'm just not the biggest Metallica fan and have seen them live before though not in nearly 20 years. Also this will be chock full of gobshites. Loads of my mates will end up going so the session will be mighty but I'd hate to go and be bored after spending all that money.

Just saw an ad for this/these on Sky Atlantic, they're really pushing it.

My brother asked if I'd go with himself and my niece so I'm going. Looking forward to a day out with them. Don't care at all about the gig.

Read a review of one of these 2 night things and it wasn't great

Looks like myself and the brother will be going. We last saw Metallica together in 2006 at the RDS. Talking today, bit of a nostalgia trip, 20 year anniversary were getting older so is the band.
If we leave it another 20years I'll be 70 and James and lars will be well into there 80s.

Quote from: Giggles on May 22, 2025, 01:23:29 PMI don't think I'll bother with this. I've said that I wouldn't bother with Metallica again after I'd seen them in 2008 for the 5th time. But I went to see them again in Slane and was quite underwhelmed.
To be fair, I was more than halfway back in the field, and being that far from the stage is almost always a downer for me.

Gojira and Pantera are great supports, I'm sure it will be a mighty day out. Summer solstice too, I hope the weather will be cracking for ye 🤞
Is there any chance of you changing your mind?

That's a terrifying passage of time there...has it really been 20 years since that trilogy of RDS gigs...

For a band I loved to death I haven't seem them since thr point depot im 93 was it, black album tour

Would actually rather see a tribute band in an intimate venue nowadays than seeing the real thing on a bigger scale

Every radio station in the country is running comps for it too judging by folks sharing them on insta.

Talking to the bro today yes. 20 years. He bought his house that year so vivid memories. Playing with korn(no show), Alice in chains etc. Was a scorcher of a day. We took a selfie that day with a digital camera, Cool pic and if we go we want to recreat another see how we've changed.

You'd probably get better versions of the songs anyway.

Ah, the oul' event surfing will be in full swing for this. You couldn't pay me to go TBH. Unless it was to the Gojira night, straight on the bus home after them.
