Anyone else looking forward to this, Bio of Jon Nodtveidt of Dissection.
15 years of research but looks like it will finally be released this year.
:: Announcement ::
Book is done. Only a prologue is left to be written, and final corrections, selection of pictures, and a suitable publisher to define. Also might add last minute collaborations. Expect a release for this year, at least thats my aim.
15 years of research, 7-8 months of proper writing.
Thanks for the support to all that stood by this project and Jon's career, life, death & legacy.
More info will be announced in due time.
Note: This picture is a random one of archival material, proper credits will be in the book. BTW, title of the book will be announced before publication, and no, it's not "Book of Chaos" (working title).

Was listening to Storm Of The Lightsbane on the way home this evening,
He was and is amazing. This will have  to be bought.

.

-Played some weak-sounding melodic black metal, including a tune that sounds like circus music ("Where Dead Angels Lie")

-Outed himself as a homophobic piece of human detritus.

-Spent time in the slammer.

-Got out and made even weedier music than before.

-"Satun muh dark lord", did the world a favour and offed himself.

-Fin.

I'll definitely read it, but I hope it's not some hero-worship piece and really gets into the nitty gritty.

Yeah I'd be interested too. Definitely a case where artist and art should be separated.

Like yourself hope it isn't a worship piece - first two albums are stone cold classics but to this day that third album is one of the worst things I've ever heard

I like the third album - felt like their version of Heartwork, a much more classic metal style I was fine with it. But avoided for years as it had such a bad rep.

Really don't understand the hate that album gets, the first two set the bar so high it was always doomed to reach those heights with that 7 year break.
I remember an old interview before he went to jail and the 3rd album was to sound more like SOTLB but I guess things change over time.
I think the book is about Dissection at least I hope so as I have no interest in that MLO stuff.

I should clarify, his own personal beliefs are not for me.
The third album is brilliant.
As said already the art and the artist have to be separated.
That topic is worth it's own thread.

You shouldn't have to clarify that.

Good comparison cause Heartwork is cuntish as well.

Heartwork is the first Carcass album I heard, still think it's savage.

Surely his radical belief system is all a part of what made him and his music and his precocious talent so compelling, not to mention the fact that he stepped over the line and killed somebody because he was so obsessed and/or brainwashed by his beliefs. I don't understand why people would want to read an edited, sanitised version of his biography that excludes a hugely important component of his personality rather than the actual real unvarnished account... weird. And to have to qualify your reading of his biography by saying you don't agree with his philosophy... well nobody thinks you do. Nobody fucking knows you exist! It's a book about Jon Nodtveidt, not about you!

I'm not sure I exist either.

There's only one Dissection album made by someone who has actually murdered someone and it wasn't worth wank.
