I must revisit Nevermore and see if they click with me. I tried them before and didn't get the fuss. Where's good to start?

Dead Heart In A Dead World was my introduction to them and is still the one I go back to most.

I'll give it a spin this evening so cheers.

Try "The Politics of Ecstasy" (even if it has one of the worst album sleeves going) as well. The production is a lot less clinical than Dead Heart.

Dreaming Neon Black and Enemies of Reality would be my favourites, but I love all their stuff. I'd say if you give the In Memory EP a listen and enjoy it, then try DNB and move in from there

Wow.... thought we would get a new Pantera album before a new Nevermore album!

In what way? That he'll be treating it as a pure cash grab, or not able to put out anything decent?

Just in the way that his name is no longer imo a reliable guarantee of quality. Doesn't mean I don't think he has it in him to make more great music, but I also won't at all be surprised if it's in some way an abomination.

Will be interesting to here what comes out of this, but I won't be getting my hopes up.

If there ever was a cover that reeked of "some clown can do art with a computer no as it's the 90s".

Think I burst out laughing in Zhivago in Galway when I found it in the racks.

I gave a listen to a couple of songs. Yeah. I can't argue with any of it but it just doesn't resonate with me for some reason.

My feelings exactly. Ive listened a few times but it never clicked.  Totally appreciate the guitar wizardy though. What Ive heard reminds me a LOT of Control Denied (which I loved at the time but havent heard for years). Aymar was a great singer.

Imagine the merch sales on that tour

Despite being a Death/Chuck (and TSoP) fanboy, I treat Control Denied as if they never existed. Chuck didn't know how to write clean vocal hooks, and his lyrics had fallen off a cliff by that stage.

I think Warren Dane's vocal ability is just as impressive and important to Nevermore as Loomis' shredding. He also wrote some great lyrics too.

Dane was one of a kind, up there with the Midnights and Messiahs of metal. Aymar is not of that class.

Indeed. The only place he is equal with any of them is in the grave.
