Only in the past 6 months or so have I finally started to get into Motörhead. I picked up Ace of Spades thinking I would most likely give it a few listens and it would gather dust for a year until I guiltily pulled it off the shelf for another go. Turns out it clicked big time. I subsequently bought Iron Fist which might even be better- I listen to it a lot these days. The next one I picked up was an original vinyl version of Another Perfect Day which I believe is a divisive album among their fans, it's  less aggressive and filthy, much more radio friendly, but I think it's savage. Today I picked up an original Orgasmatron vinyl and it sounds good on first contact so I'll see how it grows on me.

I am glad to have caught them live around 15 years ago. Muiris had a spare ticket so I took it and was well impressed with the gig. I enjoyed it more that I imagined I would and yet I still wasn't compelled to buy a record.

Seems the time is right for me now. I'm totally hooked.

Overkill is one of the very best. Metropolis, Capricorn the dirty groove of No Class. Brilliant.
1916, Overnight Sensation, Aftershock, Bastards. So much brilliant stuff.

Going to gradually pick up what I can. I always assumed they would be a greatest hits kind of band like AC/DC are for me, but the albums are ripping front to back. It's interesting that their style is, shall we say,  consistent. But despite the similarity across the board the individual songs tend to stick out.

There is a big shift from sleazy rock n roll to a more chuggy style as the went on.
Still plenty of great songs regardless.
Motorizer has some bangers on it as well.

Live at Hammersmith is hailed as the one of the best live albums ever but for me it's the 25th anniversary double album.
They were on fire and wreckless on it.

They definitely got chuggier/heavier as the years progressed, especially during the 90's, but We Are Motorhead was a return to the more punk-inspired song writing.

They released some belters apart from the critically-acclaimed 80's stuff. 1916, Sacrifice, We Are Motorhead, Inferno, and Motorizer are all savage albums that are overlooked in comparison to the "classic" era.

Everything Louder than Everyone Else is a cracking live album from 1999. They sound ferocious.

My old man took me to see them when I was 12, changed my life.

That run from Overkill to Another Perfect Day is so good, I mentioned in another thread a while back but would have been interesting to see what they could have done with Robbo if he wasn't such a twat, I read Lemmy's book years back and he loved his playing but just couldn't deal with the guy.

Never delved too much into the late 80's - 2000's stuff despite probably knowing a lot of the songs to hear, I have a copy of Bastards which is pretty good but delves more into the chuggy chug metal sound.

The most recent one I got was Aftershock which came out in 2013, I remember that being a bit of a surprise, couple of more laid back bluesy tunes if I remember correctly, might give that a listen later. I never listened to the final record as it was around the time just before he died where he was playing festivals and didn't even know where he was.

Rock n'Roll is a decent album. The title track is one of my all time rock favourites.

I'm in the same boat man. Only getting in to them the last 2 years along with Lizzy too. I have a few albums on vinyl now and they get regular spins. I'm a bit annoyed at vinyl prices at the moment though. I picked up Another Perfect Day for €20 in Poland last year. It goes for around €38 here which is mad. Seen it the other day in Dublin for that

Was he completely fucked mentally from the drink? Her was hardly still doing lines of speed before he died? I know fuck all about the dude now that I think about it. Why did they hate Robbo?

I spent 52 AUD for Another Perfect Day original and $75 For Orgasmatron original. I'm losing it

Overkill is the only one I bought, fantastic album, definitely my favourite. Ace Of Spades, Bomber, Iron Fist, Orgasmatron - all great too.

I've never understood the praise for 1916 though, I thought it was terrible. Laughably bad, the cringeworthy title track in particular. Their worst album beyond any doubt.

Nah he had cancer, there's videos on youtube of festival appearances the year he died and he's just not there at all, grim viewing.

Robbo is just apparently an annoying dick doing stupid shit, one story I remember from the book was they'd be playing in the deep south or something in a venue full of bikers and he'd walk out on stage in like tighty whitey shorts trying to wind them up . He got kicked out of Lizzy for similar stuff, getting into bar fights and fucking up his hand the night before a big tour.
