I wonder could you make a really dark metal album with a DJ in the mix, using the sampling element in a non hippity hoppity way and without just doing something triphoppy. Maybe.

Godflesh have (kind of) done that but yeah, Portishead style with distortion would be good.

Chrome Hoof could manage that, with Leo Smee from Cathedral on bass for good measure

Picked up the first SOAD album for a euro a while back and gave it a couple of listens. Not bad but only very rarely would I be bothered. From Toxicity on, I wouldn't go near them. I remember having a scrap with a lad years ago because he wanted to play toxicity all the time and he tried to put it on twice in a row but I could stand no more so I pulled the disc out of the player and threw it at him and we went to slaps over it.

Their best song was the one that never made it on to an album. You could scrap to it and sounds a bit Tim Burton as well

I dunno, sounds a bit pop-punk to me.

I loved the first one when it came out, apart from the vocals. His voice is fucking atrocious, so I was glad when Malakian's vocals became more to the fore. Mezmerise and Hypnotise (keep yer Zs, yanks) were both excellent IMO and it's a shame they lost momentum after that, more in that vein would have been most welcome.

Toxicity and Steal This Album! were awful shite.

Class bro I like their music thanks for the rec :]
Turntables go eeeeeera era era

Honestly still have a soft spot for Limp Bizkit, which is probably a travesty to mention here. Fred Durst is for kids, but a charismatic performer, and the band are genuinely excellent. Especially Wes Borland with his cool tapped riffs and delay riffs, some really interesting stuff. Thought the DJ stuff worked when he was just adding texture and atmosphere in the background, but the moments he was at the forefront sounded pretty lame and contrived.

Loved the first 3 SOAD albums, guilty pleasure albums I guess.Havebt listened yo them on years now though.

Would liked to have caught them back then in a smallish venue!
