It's in essence a rock festival for wrestling fans, there was even wrestling show in the campsite the last one I went to years ago. This is just the natural evolution of that.

That was the 2016. The weather was absolutely atrocious that weekend to the point people were leaving.
Never got to see the wrestling myself, was bunged out, probably due to people trying to get out of the rain

Had to double check it was actually 2015 which was the last year I went.

Delighted I swerved 2016 apparently worse than the brownload of 2012 which I did attend. Wrestling looks to have gone to an acknowledged brand and in the main arena in 2016.

They have tried it in a load of places over the years, Paris, Dublin, Madrid, Melbourne, Tokyo and Hockenheim. Sonisphere did the same I think. I guess they were both trying to emulate Ozzfest in the US but it never seemed to stick, I assume because there was competition from existing festivals around Europe unlike the US where there is no other game in town.

Also I prefer when we just get the standalone (sometimes smaller) headline shows 

Paganfest is still going 10+ years now but it's not really a festival as it's like 4 bands on tour together essentially and not during festival season. No idea how a traveling festival could make money the overheads must be eye watering.

Saw a clip from an interview from the guy who started Sonisphere, he left Live Nation (Download) to get it up and running with the intention of making it a traveling thing. He said it was not too expensive at first and then Live Nation started twisting the knife and massively outbidding them, quadrupling costs for booking some big bands so they had to give up.

Pity, I was at Sonisphere 2010 and 2014 and download 2013 and 2016 and sonisphere shat over download.

Be about €75 now, probably would barely get a ticket for one of the lower bands at that price now

£26 in 1995 is equivalent to £55 today, but for a bill like that you'd pay well over £100, probably £150.

I can only imagine how good they were. I even enjoyed that Subhuman album, not in the same league as the first two but some bangers on it and bachs vocals something else.
