surely anyone who was ever a Scooter fan is now as old as us?
Their frazzled seratonin receptors don't allow crankiness, just depression  ;)

I'd have far more interest in seeing Scooter than most of that line up!

"How much is the nu-metal nostalgia"

I went to Download in 06 and the lineup wasn't much better along with Wacken the lineups have always been filled with shite. Be nice to see Cypress Hill come over here and finally do a headline show in Ireland but no chance of that.

Anyone remember when they tried to do Download Ireland? I think it only lasted one year and was just 2 day gigs with Metallica headlining one of them maybe GnR doing the second night? We must be the only country at this point that doesn't have any type of metal festival.

The last time they tried a pandemic struck. The gods simply won't allow it.

At least we had strapping young lad and the weather back then if my memory serves me.Every year after that all I remember is apocalyptic rain. Last time was 2019 for me.

Yes, i rememeber that. Friday night was Guns and Roses and the sunday was metallica. There was a second stage were Therapy? Stone Sour and all played.
Nothing big really happened on the Saturday night but just a good bit of drinking went on.

Lookinhg back, buying the two tickets and the hotels were very affordable. Compared to this years two day metallica set up which requires a morgage and a kidnet to sell.

I remember arriving mid to late afternoon for GNR and being handed one of the wrist bands for the circle bit at the front.
Loads of space and I was very close to the front.
The Sunday was a different affair.
The only other band I remember from the Sunday was Alice In Chains.

Korn were supposed to play the main stage but the singer was sick so Alice in Chains got to the main stage along with avenged sevenfold.
Stone sour did the tent with blood simple I believe.
Don't know why download Ireland wasn't a thing. Sure they must have made a pound or two from it.

They have tried it in a load of places over the years, Paris, Dublin, Madrid, Melbourne, Tokyo and Hockenheim. Sonisphere did the same I think. I guess they were both trying to emulate Ozzfest in the US but it never seemed to stick, I assume because there was competition from existing festivals around Europe unlike the US where there is no other game in town.

Also I prefer when we just get the standalone (sometimes smaller) headline shows  ;D
