Seems like these lads release something every week.............

Never the less I'll probably still pick it up because it's Autopsy, though I am finding each successive release less and less interesting. I can't remember a single note of music from Morbidity Triumphant and I played it every day for a couple of weeks. The earlier post reunion releases like Macabre Eternal and Headless Ritual at least had something going for them.

Should they have left well alone?

Also, I wish they'd do something resembling a tour instead of sporadic festival appearances - again they get added to these things it's too late to arrange travel and so forth.

Word is this one is bang on form again, last one was grand but as you say nothing really stuck. Nabbed the cd on Amazon for 13e last night. Wish they'd rein in those cumbersome album titles a bit.

Yea, I'd agree with above now. I didn't find the last album terribly exciting, it is a good album of course. They are one of the best sounding live bands I've seen though. I seen them last year in London and they killed it! Been waiting years to see them. I wish they would tour and just come to these shores. Surely their is a big demand considering their legacy?

I'm sure they'd do the numbers. Maybe not Cannibal Corpse numbers but a one time tour surely would be lucrative?

That "Throatsaw" single they have up on Spotify is suitably nasty.

Some tasty bass playing on it too.

Yeah, it's a good sign for the album alright, was listening/watching it last night, actually they should have just called the album Throatsaw.

I like the album its always sold enough with AUTOPSY like they are legends, but the Album Titles & Artworks are getting a bit fuckin stale at this point. Between this band and Static Abyss which isn't far off AUTOPSY anyway so I don't see why they bother really, Chris gets out a release or 2 every fuckin year. and its all good I guess but maybe if they took 2 or 3 years they might come out with something a bit stronger creatively and artistically..

There has been many quality Death metal albums this year honestly.

That would have been the obvious thing to do, but sure look

Gave it two goes on Spotify this evening - not bad at all! As good as you could realistically expect from a band in 2023 that arguably peaked in 1989 with their debut.

Yeah I'm a couple of spins in myself, rotating it with the new Cirith Ungol which gives the Autopsy extra gnarly impact.

Holy shit, I think the "newest" Cirith Ungol record I know is One Foot in Hell

Get on it!

I thought the last album was the best since the reunion and Horrific Obsession is one of the best songs they ever recorded. They haven't done a tour since the reunion and my guess is they are too old and not interested. I would imagine they are making serious money from the festival appearances. I am still hoping one day to log on here and see an "Autopsy - The Academy" post in the Gig discussion. Emperor in Dublin finally happened so anything is possible.

Macabre Eternal best post reunion for me. But sure it's all Autopsy therefore all good.

Well well, it is indeed excellent.

Spot on with that, Chris's vocals are nasty throughout - he's almost abandoned the more guttural style. Throatsaw especially is indicative of that, really caustic. And you're right about the bass, some of the inventive playing elevates the music. There's parts in that track where the bass is almost Steve Harris like.

Elsewhere it's got everything you'd expect from an Autopsy album, the riffs just seem to be there this time. Fourth listen in and everything's sticking. The intro to the title track reminds me of Mental Funeral type material - all good!

Gave it a listen there. I think it's great! Love the bass sound
