Surprised it hasn't happened already given the amount of paedos he's more or less let off.

Quote from: Pagan Saviour on January 15, 2026, 09:24:18 PMI was reading in that Reddit thread that Australia has a 10 year sentence for a one punch attack

Pretty sure there was an Irish fella involved in that being put in place. Can't remember if he was the puncher or the punchee.

Just seen this other tidbit on the Sun Website of all places

QuoteHe set a headline sentence of eight and a half years which he reduced to six in light of all the mitigating factors.

What mitigating factors? He's 24 prior convictions and let authorities on a wild goose chase for six months?

One of my favourite phrases

She read numerous testimonials from friends, family and sporting organisations he was involved with

A few letters/testimonials etc from a good sporting organisation goes a ways towards reducing a sentence. One or two from the GAA might even get you off a murder charge.

Being a guard is also a major help. Look at the guard up in court now for killing the lad in Drogheda on Paddy's Day 2024. He had been in the pub all day drinking and snorting but wasn't tested for drugs or alcohol. He also fled the scene leaving him to die with 3 other off duty guards in the car. He was only caught because his licence plate was left at the scene.

If any of us fled the scene after a serious or fatal accident you'd be straight into Clover Hill with either no bail or 50k plus. Doesn't seem like anything is happening to the 3 off duty cops that were with him. The killer in this case is still currently suspended from the guards with full pay.

This is in relation to the incident with the scrambler in Finglas the other day that. I seen the poor girls Mam on RTE last night, absolutely harrowing. Will anything be done regarding the issue going forward? And you can already see from the article that the courtroom plan will be to obtain a soft sentence. references to no prior convictions, admission of guilt, ADHD.

Absolutely nothing will be done. I live near enough to where it happened, little scrotes on scramblers are a scourge all around here. They go up and down literally outside the garda station and the gards just ignore them

Read that - just fluff. Let's see it put into practice.

He obviously didn't hear about Jim O'Callaghan deporting 33 Polish and Lithuanians in the last couple of days. At a cost of €122k, mind.

"Judge Clancy said although the nature of the evidence is very strong there is a presumption of innocence"

How does an admission and video footage allow for a presumption of innocence?

There's been edits to the article since I posted it earlier, most notably the following.

The court heard Mr Lee is a mechanic who has ADHD and dyslexia and lives with his mother following the death of his father a few years ago

There'll be a custodial sentence but I reckon it'll be of the order of 12-18 months

It is highly insulting to people with ADHD and dyslexia for that to be used as some kind of plea bargain to drum up some sort of sympathy for him.

Absolutely - they'll throw everything at it to try portray him as a decent lad that made one silly decision with tragic consequences.

Just looping back to this one

I'd listened to a podcast with his sister, really good - don't know how she kept her composure. Apparently Nolan went to town listing all the mitigating factors but never mentioned a single aggravating factor. Anyways, she urged to check their socials which I did and was horrified but not surprised to see their appeal against the lenient sentence has been rejected. No justice.
