The abhorrence of the case is almost superceded by the fact a judge applied a consecutive sentence.

What's wrong with consecutive sentences? He does 10 years and then his life sentence starts? I presume you were thinking of concurrent sentences? Despicable case, as were his priors

The problem is consecutive sentences aren't the norm. It's all concurrent. 2 crimes for the price of 1. I'm shocked that a sentence finally fits the crime.

Very lenient sentence considering the 24 previous convictions, which also lead to lenient sentencing.


It's been brought up time and time again that longer sentences may not have the desired effect but at least dirt like this would be off the streets.

Didn't know him personally but I believe the victim drank in Fibbers, remember seeing some appeals about it, very nice lad by all accounts.

The scumbag, with 24 priors, can randomly murder an innocent person, hide for six months, smile and wink while receiving his sentence, get 6 years and probably only serve half of it.

More of a joke is the victim impact statement highlighting that Nolan was already lenient for the same guy in 2012, and he goes on to be lenient again in 2026 despite all the priors and how serious and unprovoked this attack was.

Went to college with him back in 09/10. As everyone has said, just a quiet and pleasant fella. What I heard at the time was that he opened the taxi door and caused some issue with yer man on the bike. Not how it reads there. Completely unprovoked attack.

6 years is mental, but not by Nolan's standards. If he had diddled the corpse he probably would've got off.

Nolan has more proverbial blood on his hands than most criminals. We need a gigantic new prison and the justice system not to have any fuckheads of Nolan's ilk anywhere near it.

I was reading in that Reddit thread that Australia has a 10 year sentence for a one punch attack

At some point, a family member of a victim who had their life ruined by someone Nolan has, or will, let off is going to fuck Nolan up.
