New album out next year.

IMMORTAL have completed work on our upcoming new studio album!
Our new record, War Against All, will be released via Nuclear Blast. This is the band's 10th studio album, and it will feature 8 new songs in classic IMMORTAL style.
The band ́s founder Demonaz states:
"Immortal continues the style that was established and defined on our very first records. It ́s fast, furious, epic, and mighty Blashyrkh metal - the one and only way!"
Demonaz offers some more background on the process of making War Against All:
"Even though the studio work is necessary to get an ultimate recording, the writing process is obviously my favourite. I still write all the guitar riffs/music at home with the same old vibe, and the lyrics as well. The early days of black metal inspire me the most. Cold nights in the woods, on the mountains under the winter moon. That´s what keeps the spirit alive, and the foundation to all our music"
The album was produced in Bergen, Norway, at Earshot & Conclave Studios.
"It´s actually the same studio where I recorded the guitars and vocals for Northern Chaos Gods. They also did a great job with the new album, and it was a pleasure to go back and work there again. I am especially pleased with the outcome on this one.
It´s got that cold biting guitar sound, yet powerful production.
Immortal have never compromised on the original vision, which is taking fans on a journey through Blashyrkh with our most grim and dark music, with every new release. These songs are no exception to this. I am proud of the final result, it ́s got a distinct expression, and I can ́t wait to let the fans hear it!"
The album's cover artwork was done by the Swedish artist Mattias Frisk.

This was up on the Nuclear Blast at the start of September for a few days and the release date was suppose to be around now then it just disappeared.

Did it mention anywhere who the drummer will be?

Yeah Spektre from Gaahls Wyrd and Ice Dale (Enslaved) doing Bass.

No idea who that drummer is but I will check this out the last album was a great surprise and the first good release since at the heart of winter.

I should really get the last one. I remember thinking it was deadly and then forgetting it existed.

How long is it since they played Ireland and are we likely to get them again soon?

The year 2000 in Eamonn Doran's was the only time they ever played here. Even Abbaths solo band hasn't played here and neither has Emperor bands like that just don't seem to play in Ireland.

Doesn't look like Immortal is playing live anyway they haven't played a show since Abbath left and Demonaz can't play live (Although I was pretty sure up until the last album was released that he couldn't play guitar at all anymore).

In hindsight we were lucky we weren't all burned to the ground at that gig
Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

That Doran's gig was brilliant.

Im sure The Haunted and The Crown played the same week. Was eager to travel up to see both of them,so gave that gig priority.

Still haven't seen Immortal!,its amazing Emperor never found their way over here at some point!

If Emperor were going to play here I reckon they would have tone it before the first split. They only tend to play bigger shows and festivals these days. I can't imagine a promoter wanting to pay Behemoth or Amon Amarth money for a band that doesn't have the same draw as them here.

I reckon Emperor would be a bigger draw than Behemoth. I could see them selling out Vicar Street or the Olympia especially if it was the first Irish gig, on a Friday or Saturday and part of an exclusive set of shows you would get people coming from all over Europe to see them. They regularly play club shows in the US and Japan. They have or had an English indoor date coming up I think it may have been cancelled during the pandemic.

If anything I would guess they probably ask for too much money but I am sure any Emperor fan on here would happily pay €50 or €60 to see them live in Dublin.

They'd sell well with anyone on here. The other two bands I mentioned have appeal to the passing phase type metal fans. Not judging anyone but that adds access to a lot of extra cash. I truly had no idea how big Amon Amarth were until Wacken 2014.

They played on the same day (4/11/2000) in Dorans with Medulla Nocte sandwiched between both. My friend and I had such little interest in seeing that particular support act we took ourselves upstairs and watched Liverpool beat Leeds 4-3 until it was time for the headliners to take the stage. Granted following on from The Crown was a thankless task but MN's particular brand of hardcore mixed with traces of thrash wasn't going to tick too many boxes for either of us. Immortal was Wednesday night around two and a half weeks later. Tickets were £12.50 but fell sick the day of the gig so gave it to a friend. After Dissection the gig I regret most missing out on.
