Yeah, I can't remember exactly, but I think it was packed.

Apparently the Olympia is a smidge smaller than Vicar Street (where they played in 2017), so they probably would've had the numbers to do Belfast.

I don't think Meshuggah would have a problem filling venues here. 2 people I work with who I didn't even know listened to this kind of music were at the show last night.
Olympia feels smaller because of the layout but as mentioned it is bigger.

Great show even being stuck in shitty seats didn't change that. In Death - Is Life   / Is death was so good as was getting to hear Future Breathe Machine live.

How many times have they played here now? 1994 with Slayer then they wouldn't come over for years. In 2017 I think they came back played Belfast and Dublin is that it?

Meshuggah's first Irish gig was May 1995, supporting Machine Head in the SFX. The Slayer gig in November 1994 had Downset & Machine Head on the bill as support, not Meshuggah.

Yeah, last night's gig was unbelievably good. Support band were total dogshit, but Meshuggah were amazing - set-list could have done with some more early stuff, not playing anything off "Chaosphere" was criminal - but that aside it was pretty much as close to a perfect gig as you could get. The lights, the performance, the all out intensity - don't think there are many bands that could top that. "In Death - Is Death" and "Straws Pulled At Random" were particular highlights for me!

I'd go see them again tonight if I could, best gig I've seen in a very long time.

Ah right for some reason I thought it was 94 was only a child myself back then but I always remember that gig being brought up on metalireland every time they were on tour and the discussion of why do they keep skipping Ireland would come up.

The intro was really good as well I didn't even realize it was the band onstage until the guitarist started moving. No bleed as well which was also disappointing especially since I watched an interview with Haake back in March were he said Bleed is Meshuggahs raining blood and he would often see people at shows who came just to hear that song live.

Don't think he can play it at the moment due to some back issue or surgery or something. Getting older sucks.

Ah, I was looking at the seated capacity of the Olympia. Seated + standing is 1600.

Anyone know how full it was? I was in the balcony, so couldn't see the floor crowd at all. Gave the impression that the venue was small, but then when everyone exited there was a huge crowd outside.

Sold out a couple of weeks before the show.

I disagree entirely. Zeal and Ardour put on a great show, Devil is Fine was a great sing a long moment and the band were quite clearly humbled by the amount of applause/screaming that they received from the crowd.

The 8 bit tunes singalong in between bands was class craic. Seemed like every person in the room was singing along to Chop Suey.

He mentioned something about his hands as well in that interview I saw he had some sort of skin condition for over a year that only started to clear up back in March of this year. Not sure if it is still effecting him.
