I haven't seen a thread for this on here. Really looking forward to this gig on Wednesday, they were savage at Vicar street back in 2017.

Looking forward to it. First time seeing Meshuggah after almost 20 years of listening to them. I wasn't here for previous show and had a ticket to see them in October 2016 but ended up going to a festival in the US that was on at the same time so sold the tickets.

Had a look at the setlist some great songs but very disappointed New Millennium isn't on it with it being the bands best song. Some of the videos of the recent shows look unreal. Even the lighting check video for The Abysmal Eye. Haven't been in the Olympia either since I was a child.

I am enjoying the new album as well.

I wish they would play more old songs, especially in favour of stuff from the current album, but I prefer early Meshuggah.

Either way, feels like Christmas Eve. The last time they were here was my first live Meshuggah experience, so I went to both Belfast and Dublin gigs.

anyone know the stage times for this?

Yep according to the DME FB page:

Doors 7
Zeal & Ardor 7.45 - 8.45
Meshuggah 9.15 - 10.45

Listening to chaosphere last night, thinking about how ridiculously heavy and groovy it was. Lucky fuckers going to this tonight. I'm jealous.

Thank you!

Well that was fucking incredible. After hearing the new tracks live, I actually like Immutable now.

Great show even being stuck in shitty seats didn't change that. In Death - Is Life   / Is death was so good as was getting to hear Future Breathe Machine live.

How many times have they played here now? 1994 with Slayer then they wouldn't come over for years. In 2017 I think they came back played Belfast and Dublin is that it?

Great show, Rational Gaze & Demiurge were particular highlights for me. Great having the craic with some heads I hadn't seen in donkeys years.

I was really annoyed at the security staff though. When we walked in I asked if they're giving stamps or wristbands and they looked at me like I had ten heads. Went out for a smoke, again no stamp or anything. Try to get back in to be met by a lad asking to see my ticket or my stamp. HAd to explain my ticket was on my mate's phone and that I had asked multiple staff members for a stamp. No joy, wouldn't even let me into the building. Eventually he agrees to come in with me to where my mate is to check my ticket.

Fucking spastics.

I was a child in the 90s, but that's what I heard.

When they came here in 2017, I was so stoked that I went to both gigs. At the second gig, I wondered how many people had also been at the Belfast one.

Since metalheads are generally indistinguishable bearded blokes, I didn't recognise anyone, except a really tall black dude with dreads down to his butt. You could see the dreads flying up in the air when he was in the mosh pit.

I never saw him at any gigs since, until last night. Whoever he is - keep rocking sir.  :abbath:

A second date would have been great they were off on Tuesday and don't have a gig now until tomorrow. Was the turnout for the Belfast show in 2017 good?

Yeah, I can't remember exactly, but I think it was packed.

Apparently the Olympia is a smidge smaller than Vicar Street (where they played in 2017), so they probably would've had the numbers to do Belfast.

Meshuggah's first Irish gig was May 1995, supporting Machine Head in the SFX. The Slayer gig in November 1994 had Downset & Machine Head on the bill as support, not Meshuggah.

Yeah, last night's gig was unbelievably good. Support band were total dogshit, but Meshuggah were amazing - set-list could have done with some more early stuff, not playing anything off "Chaosphere" was criminal - but that aside it was pretty much as close to a perfect gig as you could get. The lights, the performance, the all out intensity - don't think there are many bands that could top that. "In Death - Is Death" and "Straws Pulled At Random" were particular highlights for me!

I'd go see them again tonight if I could, best gig I've seen in a very long time.
