They have parted with the Axe on drums.
Will be a big loss as his drumming was excellent.
Interesting to see how good Karppinen fits in as they are bigging him up.

Axe seemed to be the last overtly Metal man of the band so they'll probably head off even further into  the ether.

Akesson usually still guests on a other metal bands stuff, and Mendez just formed a new death tinged band in the last year, so I wouldn't think it'll make a difference in that regards. Opeth sounds like whatever Akerfeldt wants it to

Was more put out about the loss of Lopez. Axenrot is of course an incredible drummer as well and reading that yesterday prompted me to put on the most recent album again. Love it.

Must go back to it meself, listened to it to death on release but not a lot since, it's probably my favourite of theirs since Ghost Reveries.
