A blast from the past here. I was listening to a couple of songs on YouTube having not listened to this project in many's a moon. I think they were on to something original and quite ambitious, even if it never felt fully realised. I only really became acquainted around the time they finished up so I never saw them live. Or did they ever play any gigs? I'm going to work my way through their catalogue in the next few days and see how it all stacks up. I'm hearing some similarities with the mellow parts of Arcane Sun, and it seems Emmett Reece even contributed something to one of their demos. An oddity in the scene and maybe one that deserves a bit more recognition?

I'm listening to the debut demo, 'A Secret Well Kept', and the song 'Wounded' has vocals toward the end that actually sound not unlike Mr. Kearns to me. Some of the inconsistencies that arise from the more complex nature of the later stuff are absent, but then maybe it's not quite as unique for the same reason. Good stuff, either way. I may have to hunt down some of these releases as I only have the split 7" with Mourning Beloveth and the 'Latitude' CD.

Edit: I just listened to 'The Solitary Path' on the Irish Metal Archives. It's really good. More of a black metal edge to it.

Emmett was in Cernunnos before Lunar Gate.
Some of their demos were stripped back and repurposed for LG again.

Fart released a Cernunnos rehearsal recording on Sarlacc a few years back. I'd say there are still a couple of copies left.

And I reckon Scobes might be worth asking about the fiest couple of LG tapes. I think I got them from him ages back and I've seen posts/comments from him since about them again.

Cool,  I'll look into it. I actually checked Sentinel's website but didn't see anything there.

I just fired on Latitude and rooted out the split 7" with MB for further inspection after being put back in mind of them via Geasa. This demo is great. Pity the song on the split is just a remix of one from here and not something new, but sure... it would be nice to see the Lunar Gate back catalogue reissued in one form or another.
