Only heard of this last week and ordered it, landed today and first impressions are good . Just good to have a new print mag out there . This first issue with Motorhead on the cover features Enslaved, Heathen, Death S.S., Necrophobic, Raven, Hammerfall, Armored Saint  etc. etc. , nearly 100 pages long.
Don't know if it's available in Easons or wherever but definitely looks worth the tenner to get it in yer letterbox. I dread the day we've no print mags left so hopefully people can get behind this endeavour.

I have seen it on the shelf in the shop where I buy ZT these days and it looks awful. I mean,  Motorhead on the cover? Death SS?? I wondered if it was some kind of reboot of Iron Fist made on half the budget. I don't get the point of these nostalgia magazines at all. I'll stick with Zero Tolerance.

Do ya get a CD with it for your tenner?

No Cd no, that's a tenner including postage though. Who needs promo cds these days anyway?
And re putting Motorhead on the cover for a first issue ,I mean ,c'mon, you want to draw in the widest fan base possible if you're putting your hard earned time, effort and finances in early doors, who would you, realistically think they could have put on the cover Andy? I don't own a single Motorhead album but I can understand  the benefit of having Lemmy on your debut edition cover that will be displayed on High Street shelves. Too retro like Iron Fist? Fuck that, I'll take that over having solely  ZT as print fodder these days.

I hated Iron Fist in the end and just stopped buying it.  It was all style but fuck all of relevance. It had a very hipster retro feel to it with the amount of focus it gave to historic acts over new and active bands. The writing had a very matey matey style that really got on my tits. It was all about who the editor knew. It at least looked sharp.

The front cover of this new mag looked like total shit to me.  A blurry picture of a band that is now gone with a very weak colour scheme and messy layout. I had a glance at the bands featured and just thought... why? I'm all for featuring classic bands and retrospective write ups on important scenes but when 50% of the bands had their heyday in the 80s, and some are no longer in existence I can't help but think it's a load of bullshit. The whole retro 80s schtick is bollocks for hipsters with mullets who'll 'outgrow' metal in 5 years but will want to look as sexy as possible on Instagram in the meantime. Pass.

Jesus the new issue has even more of a focus on the 70s and 80s. Cuntish.

Yeah I get it, we'd all love a new mag with our favourite underground darlings bathed in blood on the cover but it's a Metal mag. On the shelves. In 2021.

Yeah, fair enough, I just see it as being boring and predictable. Black Sabbath on the cover of the new issue. Judas Priest on the next one no doubt.  Then Maiden. Then Mercyful Fate. Then Metallica,  Aerosmith, Thin Lizzy etc etc... Not for me.

Who is the editor out of curiosity?

Very real chance you could have nailed the next four or five covers there and I do feel the disillusionment with that . I'm just coming from a position of dreading the day ZT goes and we're left with no print mags. Obviously this new mag is not on the same level  , not even close, but , I dunno.......chewing gum for the starved?

James Sharples editor. Never heard of him

Me neither. I was convinced you were going to say Louise Browne.

They'll be giving away chewing gum and Italia 90 stickers with the next issue, mark my words!

100% I was thinking Louise too  before I checked
