No major issues really that I can recall. I'll always sow more than I think I'll need, so even if I get a few duds, I tend to still have enough. Have 3 pepper plants, 4 red chilli and 4 jalapenos all doing well now in the poly tunnel.

Since they have such a long growing season, I started them off on the windowsill along with the tomatoes back in February.

I tend to use module trays and sow one seed per module, water them in and wrap a bit of cling film over the tray to keep in a bit of moisture and heat.

The depth at which you sow them can have a bit of an influence too. I think mine usually just go in at a finger nails depth, and I just top it off with a bit more compost. Hope some of that helps anyway!

Cheers. I've done all of the above except I sowed them fairly near the surface. I'll try deeper next year and try a different seed company next yr. Just puddled in my leeks today.  (it's Mairéad BTW) if you're ever in our neck of the woods, pop in and see our set up. We have baby chicks n all!

Ah didn't realise it was yourself!

Yeah that would be brilliant. I was looking at getting some chickens soon myself, so I'll try pop over sometime and check out the set up. Sounds like you're doing brilliant!

My Teac tape deck arrived today competing my new setup.  Trollman av Illdtoppberg are breaking her in.

Sounds great.

Bra wearing seems to have become pasé amongst many of the young ladies that are walking around the Madrid university where I work and to top it all off, tight see through tshirts are all the rage. Having grown up in repressed, Catholic, single sex education Ireland, I need to pinch myself and wonder if I am not living in some sort of new world utopia. Heavenly nipples everywhere
I visit Spain a few times a year and I can definitely vouch that Spanish chicks are the hottest in Europe.
Enjoy my dear friend.... me encanta XXxX

Ah stop it, I live in Spain too (south coast), it's torture during summer time, so many amazing looking women ..🤯

What part? My missus is from Cádiz.

Beautiful Andaluzas...you chose well. Cadiz is spectacular.

I'm in Almería. Spaghetti western land.

It is indeed. We've actually named our cat Kaí, which is the way the locals pronounce Cádiz, hahaha...
Have either of you ever been to Carnaval de Cádiz? It's on during Lent and I thoroughly recommend it. A great cheap weekend of singing, eating and drinking in such a beautiful setting.

I'm in Almería. Spaghetti western land.

Visited Almeria for the first time last year, great time had, some amazing snorkelling done nearby too. Have to get back to the region to visit the Alhambra.

Speaking of simple pleasures and Spain, supping of the incredible sense of internal community during fiestas in the small villages is something else. My own missus is from a village of ~250 in la Rioja, and we did fiestas more down your way in a village called Lubrin last year; the whole place animated around the same activities for days on end... nothing like it in Ireland that I've ever known.

Long weekend, starting at 2.40 Few beers tonight. Plenty of beers on Saturday and not back to work til Wednesday.
Bliss

My advice for the Alhambra Palace is to book it about 8 months in advance. I've been to Granada twice and only got into the Alhambra there at Christmas but it was an evening pass under artificial light (couldn't get a day pass). I'll have to go back again to see it 'properly'. Amazing place and definitely should be on anyone's bucket list.

Been in the Alhambra twice and Granada quite a few times. Spectacular, beautiful, incredible, a jewel of a city. Such a romantic, heroic looking place. The mixing of the peoples there..Jews, Arabs, Christiand and god knows what else resulted in something magical altogether. And yet, despite all the beautiful spicey air down there, a very conservative place too behind it all, loads of Franquistas back in the day and still, Primo De Rivera's name still firmly in sight on the Cathedral front wall. An interesting mix..oozing history.

Gonna throw my tuppence in on the decking discussion above...
Fucking DON'T.
Shit turns into a death trap over Winter. Turns lethal slippery. To the point we couldn't let the nippers out the back for months of the year.
And YES! It is a pure haven for vermin.
Finally ripped the bastarding thing up a couple months ago.
Just use stone and slabs.

Granada is a dream. Easily one of my favourite cities in the world so far. As you said, the perfect mix. Those pure white mountains look spectacular in the winter sunshine too. Gleaming...

Yes, it's very nice down here...spectacular coastline and food. Any heads from this site who find themselves here drop me a PM to meet up and have a few beers.

The Alhambra (in Granada- about an hour and a half from me) is indeed worth visiting, and wider Granada for that matter too. I didn't need to book ahead last time I went (ages ago now). Think there are  ticket machines you can put cash into and they print you out a pass, that might have changed though.
