Haven't done a home brew in ages, must fix that. It's a lot simpler than you'd think if you haven't done it, main thing is sterilising and cleaning everything.

Ireland's Edge was a really weird venture, dunno what the target market was cos Beamish seems to be the standard choice for young people anyway.

The CD player stopped working a few days ago, wouldn't spin up. Just took it apart, cleaned it, reseated the cables and it's working again. Lovely.

I was hoping to have a similar simple pleasure yesterday having taken the hoover apart and cleaned it out, but no such feckin' luck

That both sucks and doesn't suck.

Ditto, it's a pain. Mine works for a few mins. then overheats and dies. Been putting off replacing it for ages but might bite the bullet and get a new one.

You see the issue is you can use a hoover to clean out a CD player but the CD player isn't worth a shite to help clean out the hoover...

Should be in Pet Peeves but the motor is fucked after all. Went again, got it going but I'll have to replace the motor. To ebay I go.

Doing some clearing out earlier and found my old iPod! It's now charged and has revealed itself as an absolute gold mine of long forgotten tunes  8)

Watching guitar and amp repair/restoration videos on youtube.

I have some understanding of basic common guitar setup and repairs - Not that I'm particularly good at it mind you - so I get most of what those guys are doing, and even guitar build videos aren't a complete mystery, as I used many of the same tools for a good few years when I worked in furniture and door manufacturing.

But I have fuck all idea of electrics and amp builds, yet I still find it very relaxing and therapeutic watching experts at work.

I was watching a locksmith dismantle the lock on a safe today and I was absolutely fascinated by it. Watching the way he filed down the pins and set it all back together and then finally understanding how a lock actually works when the key goes in was just brilliant.

Edit: I was watching it in real life rather than youtube but I have seen some locksmith stuff on YouTube as well and that was also decent

I worked with a guy who ended up starting a repair business, and he has even built/designed effects pedals, so I have seen some of that stuff up close, but I'm still non the wiser what the fuck is actually happening most of the time.

But the videos are like ASMR or something. Just the process of them replacing capacitors, or working out how to repair reverb or something on a vintage amp is fascinating, and hypnotizing.

Sunshine on the first day of summer. Birds singing and a free day off work that I didn't know about until yesterday evening. Two different kinds of (lovely) hash. Missus gone to work, kids at school. Perfect.

Hopefully the postman doesn't throw a spanner in the works with a few unexpected bills or something

Edit: was wondering what to listen to and suddenly remembered that Ochoill has been on at me about Quebec by Ween for about 3 weeks so I threw that on and it's the spot on perfect soundtrack for the sort of sitting outside in the garden in a pair of shorts staring into oblivion that I'm dipping in and out of here.

Transdermal Celebration is some tune so it is

The whole thing is lethal and I gave two rainy nights in Spain listening to it on the headphones, watching the sea, supping cheap cans.  Delightful
