Viking - Do Or Die 8/10
1988 debut of brutal thrash and lightning fast riffs in the vein of Dark Angel, Hallows Eve, Slayer... Intense stuff from the L.A. Crew.

She Said Destroy -Armageddon Anyone? 8/10
This was an interesting little three track demo from the Norwegians in 2004 fusing various progressive styles. Somehow I've never even laid eyes on any of their subsequent full lengths apart from checking out their covers in the Archives.

Bewitched - Diabolical Death Mass 7.5/10
Back in the late 90's Pentagram Prayer was a big hit with me and the new one from these hell demons is very much in that Motorhead meets Merciful Fate mugs Venom style again after some dodgy efforts in the intervening years. But it ain't Pentagram Prayer.

Toledo Steel - Heading For The Fire 6/10
Revisiting this one from '21 and the Southampton based quartet  in turn do a decent job of revisiting pub metal Maiden circa 'No Prayer..', all quite clean, safe and inoffensively done but not without its charm.

Enslaved - Heimdal 6/10
Not a big fan of Enslaved's soothing clean vocals and the willy-nilly way they drop into them at times. One minute here we're raging across stormy seas and the next feels like lounging around in a spa in a terrycloth robe. I imagine.

Moonspell - Far From God 6/10
Dropping out of favour now with repeated listens, nothing inherently wrong with the songs but for a band of Moonspell's calibre this is a virtual sleepwalk. Easy peasy listening.

Health- Conflict DLC. The vocals really kill my enjoyment of this. Music is cool.

I listened to the new Iommi track with low expectations and was actually mightily impressed. The singer, something something, from Ark and a host of other bands I've never heard of or listened to, and whom I was expecting to be a ball-less wailer, is the star of the show. An old man singing powerfully within his old man range, and delivering a highly creative, balls to the wall (yep, he has them!) performance. Savage stuff. I've fired on Burn The Sun by Ark now, and I'm enjoying it, too.

The new Genghis Tron has been spinning relentlessly over the past few weeks. I loved Dream Weapon and this one pulls that thread again but with a bit more of their earlier more hyper and harsh stuff mixed in. Brilliant album.

Yeah it is savage, have had it on a ton here too.  Definitely same vein as the last album but there is more of a push in the extremes of it, a bit more urgency in the heavier parts and more space in the quieter/synthier parts.  Anyway I love both albums
