Beherit- Drawing Down the Moon. What an utterly strange and unique album. Simple, basic stuff in many ways but the mood NHV captured with the production sends it into outer space. An easy album to mock from a musical perspective, but so dark and evil. I remain hopeful that the current touring lineup might make it in to the studio before calling it quits. I have no doubt there's plenty of weirdness left in that brain if his, just waiting for the right time to emerge.

Yeah I've been listening to drawing down the moon on and off for the past few weeks, after forgetting about it for about 10 years. There really is something special they captured with it, such an odd and unique brand of weird creepiness. Vocal delivery in particular elevates the record to strange and alien sounding territory. Great album.

The new Immolation is a banger.

Cult of Luna - Eternal Kingdom 8/10
Fifth one back in 2008, the band rather conveniently discovering the journal of a madman in their ex mental institution rehearsal space to base this on. Hmm. Ghost Trail though, what a track.

Iced Earth -Iced Earth 8/10
Not the first album that would spring to mind for a Morrisound 1990 recording but a strong debut from Schaeffer, songs like Colors and When The Night Comes would later be elevated to a whole new level when Matt Barlow joined.

Vircolac - Veneration 7.5/10
Delved back into Vircolac's third outing which traverses a range of styles and moods but ultimately succeeds in its grimy, earthy savageness.

Undeath - It's Time To Rise...From The Grave 7/10
From '22, Undeath's brand of chunky old school Death Metal sounding straight from the swamp, didn't like the follow up so much for some reason, may have to give it another go.

Karloff - Raw Nights 6/10
13 minutes of raucous ,lo-fi punky black n roll in the vein of Midnite, BAT etc..

Cathedral - The Guessing Game 4/10
Anyone's guess what Cathedral were thinking with this midlife crisis of an album, a disjointed ,85 mins that fails to throw up anything much of metallic meatiness other than The Casket Chasers. Ooh yeah.
