Midnight Odyssey- Biolume Part 2: The Golden Orb.

Very cool Hammerheart worship here which also draws on Macabre Omen to my ear. I listened to one of his other albums years ago but can't remember much about it now. This one is hitting the spot for me, though.
They are very much Macabre Omen Gods of War sounding alright. I've not listened to much of his stuff before buy same as you, this has theat epic feel to it that is nice easy listening to be fair.

Haha yep, very easy on the ear. Not challenging at all but enjoyable. My only issue, and I think I had the same problem with the earlier album I listened to, is the length of the thing. No need for super long albums (there are occasional exceptions) when you can get the job done in 40 minutes.

Very true, 4 songs over 10 and one over 20 minutes!

My patience just isn't anything like it used to be. I'd be happy with albums that end after 20 minutes. And even then they could probably cut the intro

Apparently Korn's new album is their "shortest ever", so someone's been listening to your lament!

I wonder how I'd get on with a Korn album these days... considering I preferred Deftones as a kid and can't be arsed with them now I don't I'd get far through it before flinging it out the window. Maybe I should pick it and the new Mystic Circle up in the spirit of adventure and science.

I always get the deep sense of trepidation when I see  playtime of over an hour.
It's not that I don't want to give it the time it's more a case of those shot should be pared.
The Evillfeast  stuff for example  is great but 70 mins of howling and frosty action is tough going. It's not the kind of stuff you can play a bit if, it needs the full spin.
Anyway today has been filled with Grand Magus.

Lingua Ignota interpretation of Katie Cruel, announced with a shout-out to Lankum on FB, which was pretty cool:

TRIBULATION Where the gloom becomes sound

Heard that Katie Cruel version. Pretty much the same as Lankum but with less going on. Not bad though.

Devin Townsend - Synchestra. Picked up the cd for 3 quid lately.  This was the album where the rot began to set in for me. Hard to put my finger on exactly what it is about it, but it's been mostly treading water or sinking since then.

Well, I'm sure to find out: just stuck in an order for the LP, what with it being Bandcamp Friday and all.
Excellent.  Glad it went down so well!  I had it on again the other night deeply under the influence of cans and smoke and it was otherworldly class.

Their name - I see where people are coming from and it almost put me right off them before but my wife absolutely insisted I listen to their last album "III" soon after it came out.  On it went in the car one day, it was class, I deeply regretted not checking them out before based just on the name.  New album is significantly better mind but III is definitely worth a go too, much more straightforward stoner rock compared to IV but still very good.

I think it set in here too BUT it fucked off sharpish for Ki and Ziltoid 1.  Then came back again stronger than ever for Addicted.  I love that album now mind but it is the beginning of him just going through the motions, Decon & Ghost came out and were great but felt like a bookend to any sort of interest he had in the band and everything afterwards is low tier.
