I played this album to death as a teen, so I only dig it out the odd time. It's a flawless album*, they really were a stunning band.

*Escape is a banger too. Never understood why that tune is considered weak.

Had it on earlier. Better than my previous listens but the first just had that special sauce. Threw on the second Eternal Champion after it which also worked better than previous listens. All that said, wouldn't really be rushing back to either.

Abigor- Supreme Immortal Art. First time listening to this (on YouTube) and it sounds deadly. I was expecting it to sound like later Emperor, but my initial reaction is that it sounds reminiscent of early Arcturus, which for me is a happy surprise. Especially seeing as I blind (deaf) ordered the CD the other day

Never actually heard sumerlands second album, Ill give it a lash tomorrow. I kinda forgot they existed for a few years until the youtube algorithm waved the debut under my nose this week, of which I was very grateful. Quality stuff start to finish.

Bell Witch - Future's Shadow Part One : The Clandestine Gate 9/10
A rainy Sunday afternoon proved a perfect backdrop for Bell Witch's almost glacial Funeral Doom though it may be argued that the glaciers are move faster these days than this sea of molasses. A little bit more uplift or respite at times than comparable genre classics like your Streams.. or your Stormcrowfleets but I think this is up there with them.

Wormwitch- Wormwitch 8.5/10
More witches on Profound Lore, ferocious Black Metal, harsh as Winter storms until the mood breaking acoustic instrumental midway through which evokes the Wild West aka Wayfarer, odd. Takes a while to regain momentum after that but regain it they do and a strong finish ensured this was the Canadian's best effort to date.

Chaotian - Effigies Of Obsolecense 8/10
Been embroiled in the murk and mire of the Dane's '22 debut full length, hopefully we'll see a follow up to this foul miasma of death soon.

Kruelty - Untopia 7.5/10
These Japanese cavemen and lady dropped this hefty slab of primitive Death in 2023, tracks are memorable, meaty and thoroughly skullcrushing, like early Grave with a nasty hardcore element, a testament to the diversity of the Profound Lore roster.

Harlott - Exsequiis 7/10
Been a while since I checked out any new 'pure' thrash as opposed to the slew of savage deaththrash releases of late. Australia's Harlott (Metal Blade) hit the mark with a modern blend, somewhere between Evile and Warbringer that has me snooping around for a copy that won't have me taking to the local street corner to pay for it. Move over Charlotte.

Ashbury -  Something Funny Going On 6/10
Soft folky rock from  Arizona, picked this up from Fart and his Sarlacc label back in the day, very well played but  not really my thing , plenty others would and do love it though.
