Overkill - Feel The Fire & Taking Over

Can't go wrong with their first five albums, a motto which could be applied to most of their peers too.

Obscurity - Damnations Pride
Celtic Frost - To Mega Therion
Electric Wizard - Let Us Prey

Alice In Chains - Black Gives Way To Blue
Not listened to this in ages. Still a masterpiece.

Ahamkara - The Harrow of the Lost

Invocator - Excursion Demise
Monolord - Neverending
Darkthrone - Pre-Historic Metal
Aggressive Perfector - Come Creeping Fiends

Deathsiege - Throne of Heresy

Blistering death metal, similar to Angelcorpse and Perdition Temple.

My young fella picked this CD off the shelf this morning and asked me to put it on. He said it's too angry and told me to put on happy music instead. I stuck on some B-52s and he just left the room.

Leviathan – The Tenth Sub Level Of Suicide

Good album.

I prefer Whitehead's Lurker Of Chalice releases.

Necrophobic - The Nocturnal Silence 8.5/10
Classic Sunlight Studio's debut from 1993 which took on board what was going on across the border in Norway at the time to forge this minor masterpiece of Blackened Death Metal. Also one of the most noticable album covers in any Metal collection, stark and simple.

Gospel Of The Horns - A Call To Arms 8.5/10
You'd be hard pressed to find a better half hour of black thrash than what these Aussie hellraisers belched up in 2002. Simple, straight forward  and eminently replayable.

Konquest - Dark Waters 8/10
Italy's Konquest (No Remorse Recs.) had eluded me until picking up this new one recently and I'll be looking for the previous ones for sure now. A good dose of NWOBHM helps all the Death and Doom go down and this is a really enjoyable, uplifting record indeed. Konsider me konquered.

Reversed - Wildly Possessed 8/10
Vancouver's Reversed came out spitting and snarling on their Invictus debut back in '24 , their firebranded death thrash has an infectious drive that's hard to resist. Looking out for more from these boys.

Leatherwitch - First Spell 7.5/10
Never really took to Crystal Viper and their powermetal-lite output but this is more like it for me, Marta Gabriel's new crew sounding more steely and, well, more Warlockish on this brand new release. Finishing off with a cover of one of the best tracks ( Ride The Sky) from the best Helloween album (Walls Of Jericho), rubbed me up right too.

Belial - Wisdom Of Darkness 6/10
The Finn's 1992 proto Death Metal debut EP from 1992 is big on malevolent atmosphere but not so remarkable in terms of songwriting. The more kvlt among you may disagree.
