This was a big deal 20 or so years ago. They were good times in the death metal scene and in the Irish scene. I haven't listened to this album in probably 15 years. To be honest it's aged a bit. I was listening to 90s Immolation earlier and this stuff is weak in comparison. A bit of a fad band probably.

They were my least favourite of that lot of bands that were around at the time but people seemed to go mad for them. I couldn't get into it, I found the vocals so grating that I couldn't get through an album of it.

I had this on in the car this morning still as great as the day I first heard it and still a very unique album. What followed wasn't great as all of the songs on the second album were dragged out way too much most of them could have been half the length that they were. In saying that one of the best bands to come out of Germany.

Mortuary Drape - All the Witches Dance
Expulser - Fornications
Manowar - Battle Hymns

Afsky - Fællesskab

Ah i just get this "I'm a very important artist don't you know" buzz off him from interviews and that, and he's never struck me as the innovative genius hes made out to be- always found his lyrical and visual stuff bland. The other 3 always come off as cool.

Haven't listened to this latest Converge yet.
The album from earlier this year was only ok. Had a few of those newer style Converge chug a chug moments but no real lasting power.
I'd agree about his art: it all looks like variation on a worn out theme.

The new 100 Demons came out yesterday.
No wheels were reinvented but it packs a massive wallop.
