Anata - The Conductors Departure. Haven't listened to this gem in aeons - fantastic album

One of Nine - Dawn of the Iron Shadow
In the Woods... - Otra
Gallower - Vengeance & Wrath
Medieval Steel - Blood Moon

Terror - Lowest of the Low
Coalesce - Give Them Rope
Cave In - Until Your Heart Stops

Mourning Beloveth - Formless

Did the Gojira back catalogue in work, then caught them live tonight. Last time I saw them was Whelans: this was the full pyro, visuals, and whales flying over the audience spectacle.

Which was best, Whelan's or the Panto?

Drudkh - Forgotten Legends
Vintersorg - Odemarkens Son
Drudkh - Microcosmos
Vintersorg - Till Fjalls
Drudkh - Blood In Our Wells

I remember having an amazing time at the Whelan's show, but no actual details. Last night was my first time, out of three, seeing them compos mentis  Have to say, the whole visual aspect was very impressive. Could well be the heaviest band I've ever seen with that level of stage production, and they're well heavy live. Glad I went in any case, last minute decision that it was.

Cool - haven't seen them beyond the Whelan's show. I think sometimes when a band goes into big production for live performances sometimes something is lost.

Ya, I know exactly what you mean, but it wasn't just visual bluster: since they've had fairly consistent thematic strands throughout their career, they've been able to translate that into a coherent visual presentation that works well.

They seem to be reaching a new level of popularity the last few years which is surprising, they're a band I don't think quite hit their full potential on record, good live to be fair.

I was comparing it to Behemoth myself, they've had similar trajectory in some respects. Just that you mentioned Whelan's seen Behemoth there around 2004? And it was amazing. I've seen them a few times recently and they've turned into a joke with the production - feels like you're at the theater.

The fact that Gojira have been able to translate that into a coherent visual presentation that works well. is highly encouraging

If From Mars To Sirius isn't their full potential, then they're even more of a force to be reckoned with than I thought  :)  :abbath:  Out of the albums after that, which I largely ignored until a couple of years ago, I've most warmed to The Way of All Flesh; there's some truly great moments on there.

That Behemoth show in Whelan's was so fucking good, right?

Bloodlet - Entheogen

Void - Forbidden Morals
Forbidden - Twisted Into Form
