Yeah!
Gotta love Whitesnake.
Everything up to SOTT is great, to be fair. The albums after are pretty solid, too.

Been out of the vinyl game since covid got an itch there said id look around at whats what. Looked in HMV in merchants quay Cork - Sodom - you get what you deserve  reissue record, the regular version not a deluxe or anything - €75.99..on what planet is this realistic.. who is buying these..strolled across to John in vinyl bunker and got the latest municipal waste and wasp - dominator for 15 snots each

Prices are well and truly fucked. Imagine being a teenager trying to start a collection. You'd need to leave school and get a full time job.

It's actually laughable... I want to know who in their right mind says I'm going to wander in to hmv and drop the bones of 100 quid on a single album

Yeah, vinyl prices are a bit of a scam alright but it's all relative i suppose. I can definitely remember paying upwards of £20 for cds in HMV back in the day which equates to god knows what these days. I'd also imagine that teens now have a bit more disposable income than we did. Is a music collection even a thing nowadays?

Since vinyl became trendy again about 5-7 years ago a lot of people into non metal music are happy paying those crazy prices. Not necessarily €75 but I use to see people in online groups bragging about how they just secured the latest basic reissue of such and such an album for €50.

Look at the RSD releases last year Once upon the cross €50 and sold out within in a few hours everywhere yet over in the US it was selling for $25 - $30. All the subsequent Deicide reissues have followed the same path most places in Europe charging double what they are going for in the US.

My nephew is into metal and has a very small collection of CDs, mostly Metallica, Megadeth, Sepultura etc. These CDs aren't too bad price-wise, but his dad is still trying to convince him to join Spotify or Apple. The nephew is having none of it.

He was talking about how expensive Tool albums at Christmas are so I bought him Fear Inoculum for his 18th birthday. It was €50 in Golden Discs! Not cheap especially when you're relying on an allowance from your parents or a part-time job. Anyone who defends Tool by claiming that the band are justified in ripping off their pretentious fans can fuck off. It's wanker behaviour.

To be fair Londoleatherboy, I've picked up some records in HMV Cork for very good prices, it's just the pricing approach doesn't make sense. All the Relapse stuff seems to be €24, so I've picked up some Incantation and Exhumed there in the last few weeks.

I also picked up Angelwitch, Paradise Lost and other CD's for under a tenner. Some CD prices then make no sense either. €14 for recent releases by Wormrot and the like were very reasonable also.

John's prices in Bunker can be crazy at €30/€35 for no discernible reason to me. He's a pure spoofer for ordering stuff for you and I and others have given up on him as a result. Head over to 33rpm and the Invictus stuff is way cheaper there also.

Sure Tommy Tighe is the same. Years ago I was looking for some early Thin Lizzy CDs, I assumed Sound Cellar would be the place to go. Got a spiel about how they were out of print, he'd have to get them in on imports, it'd be about 25 quid a CD - this was pre-Euro, 25 punts - I said I'd get back to him. Went around the corner to HMV and picked up the first 2 and Live And Dangerous in a 3 for £15 deal. Pure spiv, I don't think I've spent a penny there since.

Yeah!
I still had pre-Euro CDs that had HMV price stickers on them for £25-30. They'd just lob an "Import" sticker on it and add a £10 for the hell of it.
And we still bought them, cause it was the only way to do it back then.

Amazon is pretty good for label deals, too. Nabbed a few Incantation, Armored Saint and more there, myself.

Ah! John is dead sound. Always up for a chat. And nearly always gives a little off the top whenever I get a few bits.

33rpm is good too. Claudia is sound as a bell, also. Fairly limited metal selection in there, though. But yes, the Invictus stuff is more reasonably priced in there.

Very much a second hand place, but Repal Skate Shop has a large selection of old LP's, CD's and Tapes. But you need to go digging for anything decent.

Rainbow - Rising (LP)

Found myself at Fnac yesterday, gift shopping for a kid's birthday party, couldn't resist taking the scenic route through the vinyl section, and was the wee lad picked this out  :abbath:

We'll see. The flashes of great taste are more than compensated for by obsession with the likes of K-Pop and the Zootopia soundtrack  :-\

Hellripper - Coronach
Therapy? - One Cure Fits All
Exodus - Fabulous Disaster
Test Dept - Industrial Overture
