Stewart Lee - "Basic Lee - Live at The Lowry" - on YouTube.

Might want to get on it sooner rather than later - I imagine that it'll be taken down fairly sharpish again.

I only saw it went up earlier. I'll give it a gander later :)

Watched it there. As with all Lee, it's a struggle at times but worth the effort.  Even the jazz bit, a struggle at times, but worth it. I liked the JK Rowling bit, too. A struggle at times, but worth it... etc.

This is pretty good. Ryan Goodcase, hadn't heard of him before (apologies if I've missed him here). Dry, kind of stoner style delivery:

Ricky Gervais playing the 3Arena next March tickets on sale Friday. Managed to get them in the pre-sale this morning can't wait the last show last year was brilliant.

Watched the new Nate Bargatze special. Grand harmless fun as expected but not as funny as Hello World. Maybe never previously having heard of Afrin was too big an obstacle!

Watched the new Ari Shaffir. Few laughs but nothing near exceptional.

Not stand up comedy per se but after many, many years I am still obsessed with the Ricky Gervais podcasts, 'guides to' and XFM shows from years ago.

One thing I could never get clear though is whether Karl Pilkington is actually a low key comedian in idiot clothing. I have heard him repeat lines from old XFM shows or podcasts in interviews and such years later, but not sure if that is a manager telling him to do so.

In any case, if anyone hasn't heard these old podcasts, I feel jealous for you.

Watched the new Bert Kreischer and Bill Burr specials this evening. Neither's great but I didn't expect the Kreischer one to be the better of the two.

Not familiar with Kreischer's stuff, but agree Burr's latest is lacking something.

Watched Burr and thought it was fine but just more of the same. I will never watch a Bert Kreischer stand up.

Trying to sort tickets for Shane Gillis tomorrow. Was at the last one which ended up being Beautiful Dogs.

Heard of this guy today and just watched this. Not bad innih

Came here to post about Bill Burr's latest and I see you've covered it. Same thing, just not quite having the magic of his previous stuff. I did still find myself laughing out loud in a few spots though. Maybe just the first signs of wear and tear where bits and pieces of his schtick are getting a bit old. Still love him overall though.

Stewart Lee is doing his first Irish tour in nearly 15 years. He's bringing "Stewart Lee Vs. The Man Wulf" to several venues around the country.

I went to see this show in the UK earlier this year and it was great but he admitted, because of the shifting nature that some topics focused on, that he was still trying to get the thing to fully gel.

I thought it was really good regardless.

Should be razor-sharp by next June.

Press release bit:

'It's fourteen years since I last toured Ireland. COVID, economics, personal issues, and the sheer size of some of my impossible stage sets got in the way. Since 2012, the UK and EIRE have parted ways on Europe, and a new cruelty and callousness have infected politics on a global stage, as we drift towards autocratic unaccountability. In Stewart Lee vs The Man-Wulf I wring bitter laughs out of exactly this problem, the show just gets funnier as the world worsens.

During the same period away from Ireland, I've discovered slapstick, dressing up, and musical parody, which feature in this show alongside my usual dour social commentary and self-loathing.  I am absolutely delighted to bring my new show back to the land my ancestors fled from two hundred years ago, knowing that 1980s London would one day offer their ambitious descendant greater opportunities to develop a stand-up set than the black-pudding strewn streets of Clonakilty. Thanks to all the Irish fans who have travelled to see me in the UK in the intervening years. I apologise and I will not let you down again."

Stewart Lee Irish Tour June 2026:

Wednesday 3 June, Drogheda, Tommy Leddy Theatre

Limerick or Galway wouldn't have killed him,  these dates require overnight stays for me and that's prohibitive these days.

Part of the show is quite physical - given that he was recently diagnosed with a heart condition - it may have killed him to do extra dates !

I know what you mean though - and, looking at the schedule, there's no Belfast either so he may fill in those gaps. Certainly, he could add Limerick between Cork and Waterford.

I've had to travel to the UK every year to see his shows, I've already seen this one but I bought a ticket for next year anyway becasue I've been whinging about having to go to London, Liverpool or Manchester to see him.

I can walk home after the Opera House gig.
