Maybe the Brits are deferential to their betters and are more easily governed that the americans.

I know a young fellow here in his early 20s who last year was playing professional sports in the US and was offered a scholarship to return to try and break in to the big time.  He turned down the offer because he was afraid of what is going on over there and afraid he'd be shot.
