RIP and condolences to his family and friends.

God bless the lad ❤️

Sad to hear of his passing.
He was promoting Irish right to the end.

He did get a lot of abuse back when he tried to organise that Philfest weekender that imploded on him. Didn't help himself by arguing back to every comment put to him.
But he eased off eventually and came back with his Burning Metal Ireland website and YouTube episodes.

I'd seen some of his posts about his diagnosis and treatments. He was always, trying to be at least, positive about it.

Shame to see him lose the fight.
RIP, Phil!

He didn't lose. As Norm McDonald said, he killed his cancer. RIP Phil. The cringiest head in the country, and we will never see the likes of him again

What age was he? 40-ish? He was certainly a character, especially back in the Philfest days, but that's the business of the living. I didn't know him personally, but no doubt his heart was in the right place and yeah, fair play to him for doing his part on a local level. Cancer is a cunt of a thing. Such an unlucky hand to be dealt.

Crossed paths with him a few times over the years, very passionate and pleasant lad to chat to. Very fond memories of an Okus gig he put on in Roscommon of all places. RIP Phil.

I paid zero heed to Burning Metal, but I knew they/he plugged away doing their thing - had no idea that was PhilFest Phil. RIP to the lad.

I didnt know the lad! ,(I did enjoy the Philfest threads!😅)

RIP fella!

"That's not a loss. That's a draw."

Rough going for the family and friends.

The worst thing about it is he got the all clear and then a couple of weeks or so later they found he had cancer everywhere. I can't imagine what a kick in the balls that must have been. Cruel shit.

He went through some saga, as recent as 4 days before he passed was looking into alternative treatment and saying he would be around a while yet, he had a great attitiude throughout, my mother is battling cancer too and goes on about the importance of living in Dublin for the quality of the care, I thought she was over exaggerating the difference but Phil's saga and posts made for hard reading, I liked him, talked to him a fair bit over messenger, my favourite part of his show where the bits at the start of the show where he would have some mad conspiracy theory amd Adrian would just be saying "yeah" back to everything

A girl I work with; a relative of hers was given the all clear recently, and passed away not long after!, riddled!.
How the fuck is this missed in 2026!?

The problem is when they say that, there is nearly always cancer cells left that they miss on scans. It's awful cruel. All the talk about how survival rates have improved now due to medical advances, yet for certain cancers that is clearly not true. Anyway RIP to the poor man

When Ginger Wildheartnsaid he was forgoing treatment and just heading out and touring, I thought he was a bit mad, not so much anymore
