Phenomenal producer/engineer was Martin Birch.

Found and bought 'Killers' on vinyl by Iron Maiden in my local second hand music shop today, had to buy it out of respect. R.I.P.

I knew his relationship with Maiden, but it's only reading some of the tributes the last few days I've copped how many of my favourite albums had his involvement, In Rock, Heaven and Hell, Rainbow Rising. What a legacy

Also, 'Mob Rules' by Sabbath.

Blue Oyster Cult, Whitesnake, Fleetwood Mac and Wishbone Ash too.

Even early in his career when he worked as a studio engineer he was working on albums by Jeff Beck, Peter Green and Gary Moore, an absolute mental resume.

Yup. He helped form the soundtrack to my life, and that of many of us. So influential...

Pete Way from UFO is the latest addition to the list.

Ron Heathman from the Supersuckers. Shit buzz.

Frankie Banali RIP...he played on The Headless Children....one of my top 5 albums...

Just read that. Brutal. It was The Headless Children which introduced me to his playing. Yeah, that album is one on my all-time classic list too. Amazing drummer.

+ 1 for the Headless Children / Banali love. Great drummer, and the drums on that album sounded fantastic, nice and weighty.

Yeah, absolutely. Tributes from all corners on social media and even reported in mainstream media, two articles on it in Guardian:

RTE have a bit, The Mirror and The Examiner!
The last album is a belter. I wonder what happened him.
