Congrats. Felt that you weren't getting the props you deserved for a excellently delivered and all round great joke.

Mongo Muppet

I'll take that....

Not very metallic, and I'll more than likely get the piss ripped out of me, but I think the passing of the great Charlie Pride shouldn't go unmentioned.
I like an auld country song every now and again and Charlie had some of the best. Up there with Cash, Nelson and  kristofferson.
Bit of a legend.

MF Doom RIP.

I know a few people here are fans.  Shocking news, amazing rapper and producer, and general all round character.

Seems Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom has died, just 41. Was a big fan when I was younger, especially the first three albums, might give them a spin again later

Fuckin hell that's a shocking young age to go.
Big fan of the early stuff.
Id say it could be from alll the drink and drugs.

Sad stuff, really enjoyed them when I was younger too, I gave some of that newer stuff a spin not so long ago and it isn't half bad.

Some of the guitar solos, like that second one in Sixpounder, are absolute crackers.

Didnt know much of their stuff bar some early releases, sad to see such a young man pass away.

Always struck me as a lost soul - could this be suicide? Or possibly cirrhosis of the liver?

The way his vocals progressed turned me off the later stuff but I got a copy of Hexed (think it was their last release?) and was pleasantly surprised with it

He's looked fairly unhealthy the last few years, reckon it could have been the years of excess catching up alright

Laiho had been sober for a few years but previous rumours as to the nature of the "long term health issues" alluded to in the press release were that he'd been battling some variant of stomach cancer. Say what one will about his music but the guy could play when he had his shit together, and 41 is no sort of age.

I can't say I was ever a fan but it's sad to see him go at such a young age. A hard man for the booze.

Genuinely sad news. They always reminded me of a band whose comet blazed searingly early on in their career and they were in a league of their own from 1997-2000 during which time they released three studio and one live album. I always felt it was going to be a huge challenge to maintain those high standards and so it proved albeit  "Hexed" was described in many circles as a return to form. Saw them three times in total-Sydney in 2005, the Point 2006 and Vicar Street 2011. 41 is no age. Sleep well Alexi.
