Fernwah - Approaching Oblivion (2022)

Got as far as the bit when it went all Propaghandi. Nothing had really grabbed me up to that point either.

This straight up Mexican DM is far more to my tastes:

Haha, exact same feeling here. Nothing against Propaghandi but by that stage it'd been through too many styles, and I switched channel.

I think Propaghandi are great and would much rather listen to them.

Just getting to the end of Supporting Caste here. First of theirs I ever heard and haven't thrown it on in ages. Still a lot of their catalogue I don't know. Your pick?

I listened to a bit of Matt Heafy and Ihsahn's new black metal project earlier. I made it to the second round of the chorus just out of curiosity because my ears couldn't quite grasp what I was hearing. Think of what a Matt Heafy black metal project might be like. It's like that. Only worse.

Yeah I haven't heard a lot of Trivium but that being promoted as 'black metal' is just baffling, it just sounded like metalcore.

I only really know that, Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes and Potemkin City Limits and all 3 are class. Prob go with Today's Empires at a push.

Haven't listened to them in a good few years so must throw them on. Old housemate used to have them on constantly.

Just released, the third album of Wedrujacy Wiatr.

Absolutely glorious epic atmospheric black metal in the Polish/ Eastern Europe style. 52 page booklet with this to follow along with the folk stories,  like the last Malokarpatan I suppose.

Superb band.

Edged Circle Productions seem to be delivering the goods again, first album due out from In Aphelion next month:
https://edgedcircleproductions.bandcamp.com/album/moribund

Features members of Necrophobic, Nifelheim and Cryptosis. Definite bang off the Necrophobic member so I'm happy out.

You putting in an order, Brian?
Been eyeing up a couple of things on there myself, again.
