I suppose to some people their riffs come across as uninspired, pedestrian and predictable. Still,  what one person finds riveting another might find boring- with that in mind,
Deathspell Omega do nothing for me, but for some posters here they are one of the best extreme metal bands of all time.

They are!
Regarding SFU, after what Barnes had done with CC to let the quality drop to a level as bad as those AC/DC covers is unforgivable. It's no conspiracy or a trendy thing to say, they are just shite.

The only one I have is maximum violence which I bought from one of the stalls from Day Of Darkness years ago was n Abbeyleix. I'd say it it's been in the box for nearly as long.

They're just so dull, and it's a shame because they definitely have the ability to put something decent together, Hughell and Pitruzzella should be a fantastic rhythm section

I loved CB with cannibal corpse but I find SFU very boring to listen to. If that was the direction Barnes wanted to take CC in then it was better he left.

I remember getting a CD with a metal magazine years ago that had a new at the time Six Feet Under song on it called Shadow of the Reaper. Quite enjoyed it then but further sniffing around their catalogue didn't do anything for me. Those covers albums are some of the worst shit ever recorded.

The Vile demos with Barnes are class and probably the last time he sounded decent.

Love Barnes CC stuff, but never really ventured past the first 2 SFU releases.
