He went through some saga, as recent as 4 days before he passed was looking into alternative treatment and saying he would be around a while yet, he had a great attitiude throughout, my mother is battling cancer too and goes on about the importance of living in Dublin for the quality of the care, I thought she was over exaggerating the difference but Phil's saga and posts made for hard reading, I liked him, talked to him a fair bit over messenger, my favourite part of his show where the bits at the start of the show where he would have some mad conspiracy theory amd Adrian would just be saying "yeah" back to everything

The Butthole Surfers have been using AI videos since they announced a release of a shelved album from late 90s, I want to say it was the original version of weird astronaut but I cant vouch for my memory on it, bit disappointing

Looking forward to this, hope they play practice what you preach

As a huge Ministry fan and huge Tommy Victor fan, I find it hard to give anything by Rob Zombie a proper unbiased listen

What sort of numbers do you think they'd do in Dublin? Button Factory sort of crowd?

Quote from: Mooncat on January 29, 2026, 04:54:00 PMForgive me because I do love a good nostalgia thread...

I was just wondering what a bunch of the old MI heads are up to now that aren't on here. I know there's a bunch of us here now, but quite a few people didn't transfer over, and another group did initially but then fell away quickly.

Reading through some of the MI Hall of Fame threads and seeing the old usernames and avatars got me wondering what a lot of those people are up to now. The likes of Goatlord, H, Bane, Snatchgrabber, Jedifart, etc. Basically anyone who contributed regularly.

Plus some of the hall of fame type subjects themselves like desertfather, eddieapathy, etc. What is Phil from Philfest doing now?

Anyone still in touch with any of the old folk that aren't around on the forums anymore?

Phil runs a youtube for burningmetal Irl weekly on YouTube, hes battling cancer at the moment

QuoteI reckon a good shout for them would be to go through all their own solo output since the 90s, pick the best 12 songs, rework with Axl and release. Better than this scutter.

Their solo output is awful. Axl is the genius, but it only really works with the classic lineup. I've a fair amount of the solo records at home. Everything from Duff's Believe in Me to Gilby Clarke's Pawnshop guitars and everything in between and it all amounts to bar rock. The closest they got to creating something worthwhile was Velvet Revolver and even at that those albums are full of fluff.

I think slash's snakepit first album is class and has some of his best lead playing, but would agree otherwise
