I was reading an article the other day and somewhere in the lines I read something like " when does someone know when a band is influenced by other bands and when it just straight ripped off another band? I mean nobody just creates music without listening to some first. Even sounds from nature.." etc etc

So how do you tell the difference? Do you have any examples (bands/songs) ?
