What are some good Fates Warning albums to check out?

Always liked the song Through Different Eyes but dont know anything else.

And I absolutely LOVED his side project Engine. Their self titled from 99 is unreal...

Big Deftones fan here, and have listened to this a couple of times now...

New album is good, but no where near their best.
For me its missing that perfect mix of melancholy and crushing aggression mated to grande soundscapes, and yes there are some elements of it here and there.
Diamond Eyes and KNY are up there among their best, but this is lacking, and not as good as Gore IMO.

And as said above, the production is very disappointing. The drums sound weak and i'm not a fan of the guitar tone, which is a far cry when compared to Diamond Eyes.

There are some strange chord arrangements and progressions also which dont sound very Deftones'y to me lol, such as the into to Urantia and Radiant City, and the outro to Error

Highlights on it for me are Genesis, Ceremony, The Spell of Mathematics, Headless and Ohms

Could be more of a grower in time (snigger), but those are my initial impressions

:D

The MH Belfast gig was fantastic.

And Robb spoke alot about the 94 Belfast show and how it was 25 years ago exactly to that day.

They deliver the goods live, every single fcuking time.

Far too expensive, and I wont be paying it. They dont deserve to charge that premium here.

Granted, i'm sure they will put on a great show, but to charge near a tonne for a niche band in the grand scheme of things, is either just pure greed or complete stupidity...

Niche bands don't tour stadiums and headline festivals  ;)

So in Ireland would they fill the likes of Slane or be known to the casual person in the street like G n R / Metallica?

Thats a nope i'm afraid.

When the likes of the Foo's are charging circa £60 for the same venue, it's pure lunacy to ask near a tonne for this.

I mean, Maiden in the Odyssey was £80 ffs

There always has and always will be an elitist element within the metal scene.

Same in every music genre dude.

Fair play to Nunes, hard to see anyone properly competing with her anytime soon...

Just hoping they release Eros in full at some stage. The 2 songs released to date from it are incredible...
