Seen them in the SFX in 97, great gig. My introduction to them was slow, deep and hard when it came out so that's the era I listen to the most. From the carnivore albums up to bloody kisses will do me fine

In fairness to Malthusian, they left an impression everywhere they played. I remember when ZC played in New Jersey, some lad in new Jersey asked me if I heard of malthusian, I replied, of course I do, I know them all for years. He asked me if I knew Matt, so to break the lads balls and wind him up, I said ya, he's a fucking spa! 🤣🤣 young lad looked like I shot his aul wan, given the look he gave me 🤣

Unreal gig. Cancer were savage, proper death metal. Made Obituary look like White Zombie

Samael - Ceremony of opposites

The Bleeding is their best album as far as I'm concerned. Every song is catchy as hell, has its own identity and while being brutal also give off a real aura of twisted evil and darkness. Superb album. I think the production is great too. You can hear everything clearly but it's warm and musty sounding as opposed to the more punchy and clear (and ultimately soulless) sound they developed later.

It is astonishing that they were capable of writing such good songs back then, especially on that album. Not only is the stuff soulless now, it's completely forgettable. How can the craft of putting the material together just desert a band.

Look at Metallica. Same thing. A mass lobotomy occurred sometime in the past twenty five years or so.

They lost all their catchiness and songwriting chops when Jack Owen left.

Only ever listened to Dismember's first two, anything past that any use?

Pieces EP, Massive Killing Capacity and Death Metal are deadly. Dismember were always my favourite of the Swedish death metal along with Carnage "Dark Recollections"

I have these in the 15 year killing spree boxset, they're pretty cool alright but I way prefer Vile. Vile, Gallery, Bloodthirst and Wretched Spawn are savage albums. I think CC lost all their catchiness once Jack Owen left, he wrote loads of killer songs
