A new Mourning Beloveth album must be in the works by now.  Hopefully this year will be the year.

This was posted about 2hrs ago on their FB page;

I've gotten the phrase "you're actually a really nice person" or something along the lines of "you're kinda normal" said to me so many time by new work colleagues or people at random houses parties!
I always question people when they say something like this and ask them what did they think I was gonna be like!
Most people say "i dunno, just not nornal" however the best response ever was some lad said "well you listen to the Kill your Goldfish music so i thought you'd be talking about killing and stuff"

Needless to say all my non metal mates cracked up laughing so now if I'm off to a gig they just say "another Kill your Goldfish gig" :abbath: :abbath:

Elder - Lore/Reflections of a Floating World
YOB - Clearing the Path to Ascend
Pallbearer - Sorrow and Extinction/Foundations of Burdenueens of the Stone Age - Like Clockwork
Converge - All We Love We Leave Behind
Mastodon - Once More 'Round the Sun
Napalm Death - Apex Predator

I'll have a think this time next year when it's the end of the decade.
This.....

  back to school people! Decade are classed as a year beginning with 0 and ending in 9! As in 1990-1999, 2000-2009, 2010-2019! Sorry if i ruined your big end of decade party you've been planning for 11 years!

Metal Discussion / Album of the Decade!

Not only another year has passed however another decade.
What albums have been th3 standout over the past 10 years!

For me the following are the ones that stand fore most in my mind.

Bolzer - Hero - What more need to be said about this beast of a record. From the production to the musicians.

Mgla - Exercise in Futility - This was a more difficult one to choose between this or With Hearts, i picked this one as I feel it had more melody and Darkside definitely stepped up his drumming for this.

Tribulation - Formulas of Death - Something fresh and original in the death metal scene. Love the melody and catchy hooks throughout the album. Amd that closing track..... I could (and have) listened to it over and over!

Primordial - Exile Amongst the Ruins - After 3 very same-ish style albums amazing to hear something so fresh by these guys. Definitely their most creative album since The Gathering Wilderness.

Wardruna - Runaljod - Yggdrasil - My absolute favourite of the Runaljod trilogy and the one with the most passion and emotion.

(The above are not in any particular order)

However my number one by a mile:

Mourning Beloveth - Formless - Nothing I have heard in the past 10 years has even come close to topping this record. Every aspect of this record is flawless with the closing two tracks of Dead Channel and Nothing has a Centre being my favourite!

Anyway always interested to hear what others have been obsessed with for the last 10 years!

Definately an underated album I think. Was the first satyricon album I heard and one of theres that I always return to. Would love to hear some of the material off it live but they same to just ignore these days?

I believe they did a show in Norway not to long ago where they played the entire album from start to finish

https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/satyricon-to-perform-entire-rebel-extravaganza-album-at-norways-tons-of-rock-festival/

But yes i think generally they tend not to include and song of this in their setlist

Think its more Snorres influence on Satyricon rather than the other way round though.

Yeah probably more accurate to be fair. The Thorns album is stellar as well.

This album was 20 years old on September 6th! Just wondering what people think of it?

I love the album, was such a departure from their first 3 and definitely that at the time was definitely hated by many.

I think its also had a huge infulence on the Thorns album.
Snorre did all the Synth and ambient stuff on Rebel. They both have the same Industrial sound.

This must be the first instance I've seen of someone enjoying all eras of Septic Flesh. Personally I think their later stuff is dogshit but everything up to and including Esoptron is cool. For more stuff in the early vein check out

Rotting Christ - Non Serviam
Varathron - Walpurgisnacht
Opera IX - The Call of The Wood

Haha to be honest I'm kinda surprised myself!

Long time Rotting Christ and Varathron fan (also Necromantia) you can definitely hear that Greek sound on the first Speticflesh record.

No heard of Opera IX, will look into them, thanks.

A bands name I'd seen for years and years, finally decided a few months back to pick up their first album, Mystic Places of Dawn.

Had no idea what to expect and i was very pleasantly surprised. Love the album and its not left the stereo.

I then did something unsual for me as generally speaking when I discover a new band I will always get their early releases first and work forward. However this time I decided to get their last release 2017's Codex Omega.

And again I'm absolutely loving the album!

So now that I have the 'Book Ends' of their discography what the pick of stuff inbetween? Any big fans of these Greek lads on here?
