Suppose it's getting to look at what's coming out next year.
Devin Townsend - Empath - March/April:
I'm a Devin fanboy so been really looking forward to this. Clips that have been released all seem a bit all over the place so could be a bit like Infinity mixed with his more recent stuff?
Dream Theater - Distance Over Time - 22 February:
It has to be better than The Astonishing because there's no way it could be worse. Although other than Dramatic Turn of Events I haven't really liked any of the post Portnoy stuff
Soilwork - Verligheten - 11 January:
These just seem to be getting better as they go on, Living Infinite and Ride Majestic were superb so high hopes they keep the run going
Haven't really heard of a lot of others definitely confirmed, but Vektor seem to be working on new stuff, Sabaton said they'd have a new one next year, Demons & Wizards are on the festival circuit in the summer so might have something out in time for that...
The Vircolac is going to be killer and I'm very interested to see what the new Death Worship recording will be like, though it's possible it could come out before the end of the year, 2019 is more likely.
New Evergrey in January. I've pretty much liked everything they've released.
New Soen in February. Really liked their last album so pretty excited for this one.
Diocletian are releasing an album in 2019. It will most likely be immense.

Eagerly awaiting the new Vircolac myself, is it scheduled for a 2019 release? For some reason I had thought it was coming before this year was out.
New Diocletian is welcome indeed. Their gig here this summer was ferocious. Rigel is a hell of a frontman so I imagine he'll be a great addition on record.
obsequiae new album - Looking forward to this one for sure!
I feel like I say this every year but the Divine Eve album is top of my list..if it ever actually fucking comes out. Couple of reissues Dark Descent are doing I'm looking forward to as well, Maimed is one, demos and a 12" by a UK band is another (I can't remember if Matt has actually announced it yet)
The new Rotting Christ will be interesting, they've been on a certain path the last 3 or 4 albums and seem to want to go a new route on this one, should be interesting to hear.
And Carcass of course...
Tool should have something out, if reports are to be believed.
Didn't know Carcass had a new one in the works. Surgical Steel was pretty good as far as comeback albums go, guessing they'll continue on that way instead of a throwback to the earlier style

They have released a "lyric" video for a new song in the last couple of days. It's ok.
Abbath is back in the studio so will be interesting to see what his new album is like and if it will be as good as the debut.
New MGLA is my most anticipated release for 2019. Only heard today Rotting Christ have a new album coming out which is always exciting
Children of Bodom new album Hexed out in march, artwork looks great, but haven't had any interest in them since follow the reaper anything after that was pure muck apart from 1 or 2 tunes.

Hard to say. By all accounts he's having awful bother with the booze these days. He might pull off a decent album though. Last one was great.

yeah the artwork for it does look class. i wouldnt be holding my breath on it being much good bar a couple of tracks on it. if they had just stopped after hatecrew deathroll they would have a pretty flawless dicography.

Thought both his and Immortals last ones were pretty decent. Wouldn't mind hearing what they'd come up with now Demonaz is playing guitar again, but can't see that happening anytime soon
Give them a few years. They'll forget how much they hate each other and see how much they can get paid for gigs.
Looking forward to the new Mgla & Carcass, I think Lantern have a new on the way.
Terminus have been talking about a new album for a while now. Hopefully it will land in 2019. That last one was immense.
Elizabeth Colour Wheel have an lp coming out 9n the Flenser which I'm looking forward to. The "Queen Tired" ep ruled. Ffo True Widow, Thou,Planning for Burial
Preorders so far for 2019 are
Rotting Christ - Heretic
Mystifier - Protogoni Mavri Magiki Dynasteia
King Diamond live
Realm Of Wolves - Oblivion (LP, have the digital from bandcamp already)
DARKTHRONE has finished new recordings last year, so it must be out this year at some point.
MGLA's new album is certainly highly anticipated!
also really hoping NEGATIVE PLANE finishes their new album this year...
FORCE OF DARKNESS from Chile is also putting a new album out... it should be another riff feast.
Seconding the new Diocletian release. I'm excited to hear the new Pissgrave whenever it drops.
hoping Wormlust's follow-up to The Feral Wisdom will finally be unearthed this year.
New Sunn0))) announced today. Two albums out this year, "Life Metal" and "Pyroclasts". Details and sample here: https://thequietus.com/articles/25992-sunn-o-life-metal-exclusive-album-preview
Inter Arma teased online too with what looks to be an album cover. This should be deadly but not even a release date nodded at.
Spotlights releasing something on Ipecac next week, hopefully a full album. Their last one was excellent so really looking forward to this. No details beyond an absurdly vague sample on their various social media.
Big Business "The Beast You Are" out in April. More of the same expected but the same is deadly so zero complaint there. One tune up:
http://bigbigbusiness.bandcamp.com/album/the-beast-you-are
Really looking forward to the new Numenorean album out in April, first track Regret sounds the business.
Jesu album due out this year but no month given yet. Noted on Facebook by Justin Broadrick as a postscript to another post.
New Denial Of God album is recorded already apparently. Can't wait for it to land.
Very curious to see if Sacred Reich can still cut it. Album due in the summer.
So Kull are finally releasing the long awaited Debut album at the end of April. They released demos on youtube 5 years ago and ive been waiting ever since, artwork looks good and what ive heard sound good too!
For those who might not have heard of Kull, they are Basically Bal Sagoth without Byron as far as i know. and a lot of the material from Kull's debut was songs that were suppose to be Bal's seventh album.

Long-awaited pre-order shipped yesterday for Can Bardd's 2nd album, The Last Rain, which is out on Friday:
https://canbardd-northernsilence.bandcamp.com
Really liked the debut last year even though the production wasn't great but the mood certainly was set nonetheless. Mad to discover last week that it was written by an 18 year old, fair play in this day and age. Caladan Brood's 2013 re-issue DLP amber coloured vinyl coming in the same package, can't wait!
Vircolac on pre-order as well.
Krypts 3rd album out in May, will have to check it out in due course...
Krigsdøger, the second full-length from Norwegian black metal duo Gjendød, will be released March 9th on CD and digital formats. You can now stream two preview tracks, pre-order the digital version or add the album to your bandcamp wishlist. Be prepared for their most intense and varied work to date that still retains the band's distinctive Norse flavour.

Anciients have put up that they're working on new stuff so hopefully they'll have something out later in the year

Second time spinning it here and there's a hell of a lot of build up going on and very little release, a lot of pomp and circumstance and more water threading from a band who should be leading the way.
I didn't make it to the end of one listen, so fair play for your perseverance.
Yeah the RC has a lot of talky talky on there on first few listens which is annoying. But i've come around to it by now and its worth sticking with. One or two dud tunes in the middle, but overall its sold and as good as anything they've put out in the last 10 years. Pity they've lost George E in the last few weeks on guitar - cracking player live, but I see they already have a new guy in place...

Following up on both of these. Inter Arma have since released two songs, very different but both are top class. Album "Sulphur English" is out on April 12th. Seriously looking forward to this. Citadel (https://youtu.be/y41Vyb4tD0c) is the heavier of them and is some sort of death/sludge beast, absolutely molten.
Stillness (https://youtu.be/moUpW0jzNL8) is slower, acoustically led, mournful and proggy, but a really fucking savage song that builds to a ripping close.
Spotlights album "Love and Decay" is out April 26th. Excellent single released off it, The Age Of Decay. (https://youtu.be/veRrIHlvPSU) Anyone who listened to "Seismic" on release knows what this will be like, if not, think of something somewhere between Deftones, Melvins, early Isis. Smotheringly heavy, but with lush melodies and textures throughout.
Add in the Big Business album and April is going to be a good month.

BLIND GUARDIAN'S TWILIGHT ORCHESTRA - Orchestral album "Legacy Of The Dark Lands" to be released in November 2019
For this, BLIND GUARDIAN was able to find support in German bestselling author Markus Heitz, whose new novel "Die Dunklen Lande" is being released today (March 1st). The book is set in 1629 and contains the prequel to BLIND GUARDIAN's opus "Legacy Of The Dark Lands", which will be released November 1st.
They've been working on this for years so curious to finally hear what it'll be like, especially tying it in with a Heitz book
Another Big Business tune up, Heal the Weak (https://youtu.be/KrIP9mCzNKc). Really looking forward to this. Straight to the point, some noise for a two piece.
Another Inter Arma tune too, The Atavist's Meridian (https://youtu.be/UZNjj17gWhQ). Dissonant and howling, with lovely churning riffs. Fuck me this is going to be some album.
Earth released a tune and album details too, "Full Upon Her Burning Lips", due out 24th May.
Cats on the Briar (https://youtu.be/suVxSq0YCOY) is up here, sounds a bit more in the vain of material on Hex or The Bees... than anything else, no problem there, I love those albums.
Some year for tunes lads.
New Nostromo ep

Few recent additions from Van Records that I've preordered

Noevdia is getting my money in May, with the Deathspell Omega and Misthyrming (forgive the spelling). In June Profound Lore is where it's going with the new Consummation and Abyssal (UK) albums. Later in the year is new Vassafor and Temple Nightside releases, tasty.
PL also putting out the new Diocletian, which I've heard is absolutely bonkers
Was listening to the new KAMPFAR, Ofidians Manifesto, this weekend. Great album...different tones in comparison to the Kampfar sound but great album nonetheless.
Not sure how I feel about the new DsO song, seems a bit too straightforward, it is growing on me though. The new Kampfar album is vicious!
I think the Vlitimas album is maybe the best Ive heard so far this year, outstanding. Looking fwd to hearing some new Rammstein too, the first two songs we've heard have been great...

They have released a "lyric" video for a new song in the last couple of days. It's ok.
Do you know the name of the Carcass song? Cheers.
New Possessed out today. I'm four songs into it now, loving it so far!!! No doubt people will kick up a stink about the production being too clean or whatever but there's some seriously vicious riffage on it.

New Friendship album, "Undercurrant" is out. Ffo Converge. Heavy chaotic riffs. http://friendshipsl.bandcamp.com/album/undercurrent
Looking forward to both these dropping later this month. Am liking both songs that have been released so far a lot.

Weeping Sores - False Confession
Had that Haunter on earlier and it's excellent
Finally got to hear the full album yday. and the rest of the tracks are indeed excellent. Few sections really caught me off guard, some of the acoustics bits are as good as any of the DM parts. And some of those heavy riffs are top tier stuff.
yeah fuck that Haunter is quality stuff.
Haunter definitely sounding good alright. Little bit of a Horrendous vibe going on.
I'm very interested to hear this new Terminus record, as far as Irish stuff goes. With a bit of luck they can reach a similar standard as the first album, which I've pretty much worn out. Looking forward to hearing the Bacterium record in its totality too.
As for upcoming stuff, Obsequiae (c'mon t'fuck!) and that Blood Incantation record are what I'm most curious about. It's going to take something really special to dethrone the last Tomb Mold for me this year as far as Death Metal goes, but there's lots out there I haven't heard yet. Also, some very killer Canadian metal, the upcoming Profane Order record is excellent.
New LvxCælis and Die Kunst der Finsternis albums from Lamech on Halloween.
Blood Incantation is out via Century Media on 22nd November it appears.
The cover is ridiculous
