Just listened to Impellitteri take a massive shit on Sabbath. A contender for the worst cover ever?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd6SovXtKbY
The song isn't the worst, at least they tried to put their own spin on it, but the video is possibly the worst video i have seen in a while.I
The worst collection of covers is Iced Earth's Tribute to the Gods... They sucked the soul out of those songs. It really is a travesty.
They don't do the groovy outro, that's the biggest sin. For the rest, cheesy band do cheesy cover, no surprise!

I'm a massive Iced Earth fan, but you're spot on, that is a fucking awful album. Even that there's two Maiden, two BÖC, two AC/DC covers make it seems like their was no thought put into it and just rushed out to have an extra disc for the boxset

Same as that! Im Huge Barlow era Fan, i did enjoy one or 2 of the songs, due to schaffers playing, but very poor album over all.
Arch Enemy's version of The Book of Heavy Metal must be up there with the worst. Tried to find a link for it but seems even the internet spat it back out.
Six Feed Under and their ridiculous cover albums?
Those Six Feet Under cover albums are dreadful alright.
Megadeth had a habit of releasing some pretty terrible covers over the years, most recent offender being Cold Sweat.
99.99% of covers by Metal bands tend to be shite....whould be quicker to name good covers :)
But much less fun
Just listening to Vanity/Nemisis and forgot this war crime was tacked onto the end of it

I posted this one recently....

Awful, awful stuff altogether.

Just no...
There used be a cover of the Trooper with grunty death metal vocals out years ago. Would often be played after gigs. Awful, awful shite, never knew who the band were though.
Vital Remains wasn't it?
Everytime somebody says Killswitch Engage covering Holy Diver is good, a puppy dies. What an abomination
Take your pick from practically any roadrunner album from the 90s/00s - Three that spring to mind
Machine Head Message In A Bottle
Cradle Of Filth Temptation
Megadeth's Inexplicable cover of A Tout Le Monde
Children of Bodom have a few covers that could be decent if it wasn't for Laiho's vocals, same as their own stuff really, but they're mostly pure muck

Forgot the Machine Head one existed, that truly is grim... Their cover of The Sentinel is also horrible
I'll also put forward these offerings
Amon Amarth - Aerials
Slayer - Born to be Wild

Just looked it up.
Wish the internet had spat it back out again. Fucking hell, that is unbelievably bad.

Kill II This (wot?) were darlings of Metal Hammer in the mid 90s. They seemed to be pushed on every second issue and even to my nu-metal enjoying ears they seemed to be second rate. On reflection I'm guessing the writers for MH were either friends of all the local crap bands or, more likely, members of the bands. Pity I didn't cop on to the likes of Terrorizer or Metal Maniacs sooner than I did as I was exposed to so many musical horrors back then it's a wonder I didn't just jump ship and take up knitting.
I actually love Iced Earth's version of Hallowed be thy Name. Haven't heard the rest of the album though.

The Earache Black sabbath album had a few good ones. The above series.... not so much.

Add Slayer In a Gadda da Vida as well- horrible stuff altogether. For what it's worth the band hate it though.

Wasn't that Earache album the one with the gabber cover of Paranoid? I listened to it lots in a "stare at a car crash" kind of way.
Not actually a shit cover, but Death's version of God of Thunder that was tacked onto the end of the remix/remaster of Human (aka my favourite album ever recorded) boils my piss.
I appreciate the extra CDs were full of demos and there was ample space for it on the main disc, but I'm of the opinion I'd sooner cut off my ears than voluntarily listen to Kiss in any capacity. Aural pollution peddled by clowns in makeup.

Yep. It's a unique take on the song
Didn't want to start a new thread for this, so I've humbly chosen this one. For the day that's in it, I uploaded the Era V cover of Five Magicks to YouTube:

I think that Megadeth cover is grand and I'm no lover of Megadeth. Maybe that's why?
Megadeth don't do covers well. Most of the above album is deadly though.

Basically a straight up copy but with Killians fucking atrocious vocals over it, pointless
As opposed to Biafra's appalling vocals? 😉

Had that on tape as a young lad and wore it out. The Type O version of Black Sabbath is just brilliant.

Christ. He should never have been allowed near a microphone, quite possibly the worst vocalist I've ever heard.
