With some bands returning to action with streaming performances, perhaps it’s worth sharing?
Tomorrow, Thursday, May 21 at 7pm Arcturus will play “a very special live set with all the necessary props and a few surprises.” The show will stream for free on the band’s Facebook page.

Covid Lockdown performance veterans Clutch will perform a streamed concert titled Live From The Doom Saloon Volume 1 on Wednesday, May 27. They will be supported remotely by Crowbar, Blacktop Mojo, and Saul. This one costs $9, “tickets” available at https://livefrom.events/DoomSaloon/
Yeah looking forward to that one.
Katatonia did a studio gig which was excellent a couple of weeks ago.Its still online if you want to view it and support the band.

Saw that about the Clutch show alright. Pity its on a Wednesday night our time though so won't be able to watch live.
I saw Devin Townsend did a series of shows from home for charity. One of the gigs raised $81,000 for the NHS!
It starts at 9pm, our time, will be over by midnight. EST is five hours behind BST, no? Perfect timing, I reckon.
BST Schedule
Saul 9:00-9:30pm
Blacktop Mojo 9:35-10:05pm
Crowbar 10:10-10:50pm
Clutch 10:55-11:45pm
You've got to love those virtual changeover times

Nunslaughter also did a show on Monday I think the video is up on the facebook page. Enslaved did one a few weeks ago as well I think they were one of the first metal bands to do it.
It's good to have this stuff for free but I can't be bothered paying to watch a band play live on my laptop. Maybe if it was a special set or something like say a Ministry show were they only play material from 88 - 92 that I would pay to see.

I'm largely unfamiliar with Arcturus but, in all honesty, these lads are fucking shite. I assume they're just having a stinker here?
This lad makes King Diamond look prolific when it comes to hitting notes.
Anvil will perform the first live virtual metal concert in Canada on July 4th at L'Anti Bar in Quebec City. Drummer Robb Reiner told The Metal Voice: " Nobody will be there, just cameras. We are going to smash Covid In Canada... make sure to join us and 'Rock That Shit'."

I hope some good bands do this kind of thing too.
I started doing some before the full lockdown started. I did 1 with Shardborne and 2 with a covers band I dabble in with my mates. Had a few audio issues on the Shardborne one so it kicks in properly about 20 mins in. First time doing it so we'd a few issues. Had most of the issues sorted after a couple of streams.
https://youtu.be/uQOKfa6P0yA
I've bought some gear to make doing this easier and more pro. Once the restrictions loosen up to where bands can safely be together I plan on doing a good few more. Hoping to be able to offer it as a service and bring it to some proper live shows when this is all over.
It's crazy how quickly the bar was raised for bands doing it. In a matter of weeks the standard of quality has for the most part jumped up.

There's no harm paying a few quid and helping out a band you like due to the current situation of bands not being able to play and get paid.
Some bands might be in better positions financially not to charge and others not.
Is there anything being streamed this weekend?
I think so at least! Free and unique, but not sure how exactly they're streaming it...
Vreid – Live Sesssion
June 13th 2020 – 9 PM CET
Allright! This will sureley be something different. We dont get to see you this summer , but instead we will take you on a virtual journey to the Sogndal. Spread the word and invite as many as you can to this event. Thanks for your support.
With the world at a standstill, and all shows for 2020 cancelled, Vreid decided to open the gates and invite you all to their home mountains on the west coast of Norway. Vreids history reach back to the mid 90s, and this will be a journey through their musical history with a live session in spectacular nature settings. The show will be opened by a biographical intro done by producer Håvard Nesbø.
The extreme nature and the history of our dear homeplace Sogn have always been a huge inspiration and important factor of our musical universe states bass guitarist and composer Jarle Hváll Kvåle. So, when we can't travel the world to meet you, we decided that we will bring you all to our natural habitat. We will do a show at my own mountain farm in the Sogndal valley. It's been in my family for generations and is located in some of Norway's wildest and most spectacular nature. This is where a lot of our music is written, and this is where our roots lay. It surely will be a unique experience with a special setlist. We will perform songs that we have never done live before alongside live set classics. Welcome to the mountains of Sognametal.
The show will be streamed at Saturday June 13th 2020 at 9.PM CETThe show is free of charge to watch, and you don't have to register. If you want to support the band you can do so by donating the amount you want by Vipps or Paypal.

It's a way for bands to still play. Like I play in 4 bands, none of which have been able to even meet up in the last 3 months. We had a SLEW of gigs booked- One is a Sabbath Tribute band and this year is the 50th anniversary for the release of their first 2 albums. We were looking at probably doing close to 20 shows with that band alone all going according to plan this year.
I actually make a living off of music so if I can do a free stream and people can chuck a few quid if they feel like then super.
The vast majority of these streams are going towards charity anyways. I did one yesterday and the proceeds from that went to MASI. I'm operating another next week and thats going towards Suicide Watch..
I think it's fair to say everyone would prefer gigs but this all we can manage for now. No one expects fans to prefer these over going to a show.
Post links here when you’re doing them, you should get a few interested heads here.
I always watch gigs on youtube, and i'd much rather that then covid lockdown gigs. Old gigs bands have done.

Summer 2020 is a very different landscape from the usual event-packed few months, so to maintain a sense of community, Bloodstock has joined forces with twelve of the best independent metal festivals in Europe to create a unique online event for both bands and fans.
The European Metal Festival Alliance is a joint venture between Bloodstock and Alcatraz (Belgium), Art Mania (Romania), Brutal Assault (Czech Republic), Dynamo (Netherlands), Into The Grave (Netherlands), Leyendas De Rock (Spain), Metal Days (Slovenia), Midgardsblot (Norway), Motorcultor (France), Party.San (Germany), Resurrection (Spain), and Summer Breeze (Germany).
A special streaming event will take place across the weekend of August 7 - 9 offering exclusive live performances from a selection of yet-to-be-revealed artists chosen by each festival, as well as exclusive new interviews, and more. As a fundraiser for the beleaguered independent festival sector, who don't have the backing of big corporate money for their survival, viewers will be asked for €6.66 (that's just under 6 quid) for a 'full festival pass.' In return, they will enjoy three days of live performances by 35+ metal bands at various locations around the world and other exclusive content, from the comfort of their own home. Virtual ticket purchasers will also get a discount on a European Metal Festival Alliance 'Rebooting for 2021' T-shirt.
Meanwhile, to get warmed up, the newly launched destination website at MetalFestivalAlliance.com will host a wide range of previous footage from this festival co-operative, including many sets not previously broadcast, throughout the summer.
The lineup and schedule for the streaming event will be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets will be available Friday, July 10 from MetalFestivalAlliance.com.
We'll be doing our first official Bad Reputation stream tomorrow - Friday June 19th at 8pm, with Zealot Cult in Dolans Warehouse, Limerick.
We're calling it Kickin' and Streamin' and will be doing more as the weeks go on. Each stream will be free with the option to donate to the charity of the bands choosing.
We'll be sharing details on our social media but they'll all be done directly to our Youtube channel.

Not from us in Limerick unfortunately! We've not got the use of the venue this weekend.
We'll be back next weekend, announcing the bands for it tonight! We'll also be reuploading the sessions we've already done with additional camera angles and remastered audio.
Not metal but I've also been working these other streams which has a large team and big production, also out of Dolans. Windings are on the same label as Shardborne and Rest and would probably appeal to most Metallers.

Watching this here now, it's brilliant. COD is a top 3 DM album for me anyway, only sorry I missed that show myself. I've only seem them once, supporting Slayer that time and that hardly counts- especially as they played nothing from this if memory serves.
Yeah Ancient Ones, I had heard them just before the gig but hadn't fully digested them yet. Being a nipper with feck all money swayed my foolish decision... probably saving for some cheap-ass 3-pack of blank tapes to get more tunes in school at the time ☺️

With Bad Reputation in Limerick we're going to run a special video for the Easter Sunday, which would normally be our weekend for the Siege of Limerick festival. We're crowdfunding this one as there's no other means for us to make it happen! We'll have a couple of bands doing live performances and some interviews. If anyone on here feels like throwing in a few quid it's going towards the production crew to make it happen and to giving the bands a few quid.
Nice one lads. Just threw in a few shekels there.
Looking forward to it....
Really enjoyed this. Savage production. Highlight of a dreary Easter weekend. Welldone to all involved. :abbath:
Cheers!

There's a link for anyone who's missed it and still wants to check it out. We're super happy with how it all turned out and feel like the peoples money went to good use! Since we made more than our goal originally called for we're going to run another small series of live videos over the end of April/May with a couple of bands who haven't been in for a video session yet with us over the last year!
Emperor are celebrating 30 years next month with a streamed show on May 23rd.

Vreid are broadcasting their movie with a warm up session this Thursday evening at 8pm.
Still not sure about Vreid trying to produce a "film" inspired by David Lynch for all the songs on their new album, but sure if ya have nothing else on it could be worth checking out.
I pre-ordered the LP with the DVD anyway before seeing anything, but the warm-up might be interesting all the same. It's on Season of Mist's yt channel and the facebook yokey below...

Did anyone watch the Emperor stream?
The old stuff was excellent, too much Anthems stuff played and I thought the synths were way too loud.
I've only seen a few clips. From what I saw it looked and sounded great. The drums were pounding . Faust's kit in particular sounded like thunder.
Also Mortis had his party face!
Did you buy it or did you use skullduggery?
I paid for it.
I thought the mix for the old stuff sounded better as it had no synths which I thought was a bit too loud at times and the overall music lacked that umph.
The emperial gig in London was much better soundwise I thought.
Pity they didn't play more older stuff and Prometheus.
I might have to pull the trigger before they take it down .
Anthrax 40th anniversary shin dig streaming on 16th July. Cringing at the virtual meet n greet, christ on a bike...

I bought the Enslaved boxset over the summer and I'm just getting aroind to watching the second one now.
Fucking hell. Perfect band, perfect performances.
They played a few covid gigs which were class, Below the lights in full was a great watch.
That's the boxset I was on about, great stuff.

The ACROSS project is a cinematic experience that brings two unique artists together to share their cultural identities and bridge the sea between the two fjords. Spectacular views of the Storehogen Mountain in VREID's hometown of Sogndal, Norway and of Hellisheiði in SÓLSTAFIR's native Iceland lay the majestic backdrop for this one-of-a-kind, 90-minute long digital streaming event. Each band's signature sound rings through the cavernous expanse, creating a symbiotic musical dialog that can be heard from across the globe.

I imagine these are what are being released next month?

Listening to Slowly We Rot now, deadly sound. No crowd makes it better I reckon, just blaze on. 🤘🏻
Listening to the Cause Of Death one now and it's astoundingly good. Helped by the fact that it's my 3rd favourite DM album, but live it's crushing.
