Samael are doing a live stream gig on June 21st.

I don't get the hype of these online gigs at all. No way would I pay to watch lads essentially practice their set list ha ha ha

The vast majority of them are free.

There's no harm paying a few quid and helping out a band you like due to the current situation of bands not being able to play and get paid.
Some bands might be in better positions financially not to charge and others not.

Is there anything being streamed this weekend?

I think so at least! Free and unique, but not sure how exactly they're streaming it...

Vreid – Live Sesssion
June 13th 2020 – 9 PM CET

Allright! This will sureley be something different. We dont get to see you this summer , but instead we will take you on a virtual journey to the Sogndal. Spread the word and invite as many as you can to this event. Thanks for your support.

With the world at a standstill, and all shows for 2020 cancelled, Vreid decided to open the gates and invite you all to their home mountains on the west coast of Norway. Vreids history reach back to the mid 90s, and this will be a journey through their musical history with a live session in spectacular nature settings. The show will be opened by a biographical intro done by producer Håvard Nesbø.

The extreme nature and the history of our dear homeplace Sogn have always been a huge inspiration and important factor of our musical universe states bass guitarist and composer Jarle Hváll Kvåle. So, when we can't travel the world to meet you, we decided that we will bring you all to our natural habitat. We will do a show at my own mountain farm in the Sogndal valley. It's been in my family for generations and is located in some of Norway's wildest and most spectacular nature. This is where a lot of our music is written, and this is where our roots lay. It surely will be a unique experience with a special setlist. We will perform songs that we have never done live before alongside live set classics. Welcome to the mountains of Sognametal.

The show will be streamed at Saturday June 13th 2020 at 9.PM CETThe show is free of charge to watch, and you don't have to register. If you want to support the band you can do so by donating the amount you want by Vipps or Paypal.

It's a way for bands to still play. Like I play in 4 bands, none of which have been able to even meet up in the last 3 months. We had a SLEW of gigs booked- One is a Sabbath Tribute band and this year is the 50th anniversary for the release of their first 2 albums. We were looking at probably doing close to 20 shows with that band alone all going according to plan this year.

I actually make a living off of music so if I can do a free stream and people can chuck a few quid if they feel like then super.
The vast majority of these streams are going towards charity anyways. I did one yesterday and the proceeds from that went to MASI. I'm operating another next week and thats going towards Suicide Watch..

I think it's fair to say everyone would prefer gigs but this all we can manage for now. No one expects fans to prefer these over going to a show.

Post links here when you’re doing them, you should get a few interested heads here.

I always watch gigs on youtube, and i'd much rather that then covid lockdown gigs. Old gigs bands have done.

Spectacular scenery really added to it, mad to see them in the midst of snow in mid-June! set list was class as well. A real rare treat you'd never get to see otherwise. It was way better than watching a normal gig.

Holy shit, that guy playing drums did my NCT last year  :o

Sounds great. Not too familiar with band. Must check later. Thanks for highlighting it.

Kvelertak are doing another live stream at 8pm (BST) on Saturday evening for 100 NOK (about £8.35, €9.33):

I also enjoyed the free stream The Scratch did from The Grand Social two weeks ago:

Kila have done a free stream as part of a thing called the Lock Up Live Show:

They're no substitute for a live show but when done well they are a bit of craic.
