Ah lad. And it would have been against them from up the road if we'd have won it, for fuck sake. That's a sickener.
Pewer hai....

It's like Man Utd. You get a guy in who has no experience at anything near the level you're playing at, and, throwing all reason out the window, he's expected to introduce some sort of Cryuff system into Irish football that has never existed at Youth, U21 or senior level, and somehow it doesn't work. Give me a break. Bring back Big Mick or time to call Big Sam for fuck sake.

I fully agree with all of that. they were never going to do it. it only really hurts because it was penos. Never expected them to win tbh. On the plus side, as I was saying to the young lad, at least they had a go at playing soccer for a change but being Ireland they will never actually do anything.

A stop ffs!,Kennys had fook all time with this squad,we've had 20 years of mick McCarthy/sam Allerdice style performances. We resembled a football team last night for the first time in a long while.Theres a bigger picture here lads.

Some of the attacking play was sublime, the Browne and Hourihane chances, great stuff. I'll agree with you Paul about the grand scheme but it is a very sore one all the same.

Take a look at some of our u21 performances since kenny took over ;we did fuck all at that level for years.Go back to 2016 when Dundalk were in the group stages of the Europa league, some fucking unbelievable performances away from home against vastly superior opposition.I breaks my heart to see fellas pine for managers like Big Sam!

Yeah it was a bitter pill to swallow for sure.

I'll take it back, was taking the piss a bit with that comment.

sorry, I said I agreed with it all, I should have stopped at the big sam thing. I agree with the fact that they can't be expected to suddenly play some sort of total football after 3 matches and the fact that it hasn't been the culture at any level to play that type of ball in this country. Taking into account that the opposition were no great shakes either, it's painful to go out on penos but not unexpected that they weren't going to make it. Jury is out on whether Kenny is out of his depth or not but I'd be interested to see how they would get on against the likes of a Spain or Germany playing this sort of game. The benefits of the new approach are there to see, looking at what they did last night and I'd much rather them lose that way, with a bit of football played, than going the shitkicker route and still losing.

I dont think we could play against a top nation playing like that. For me our biggest downfall over the last 15 years is that we were scared shitless against teams of a similar or lower standard to ourselves.Look we'll dig in against sides like Spain and Germany, ride our luck etc. We've failed to qualify more often than not because we couldn't win the bread and butter games in our groups.Managers instilling fear into our players,we're not world beaters, but we should be playing a lot better than we have been in recent times.

Yeah it will be refreshing to see them not treating games like the Alamo every now and again. Sure what is the expectation for our team? Get to a tournament every now and again, and provide some memorable moments and get past the group stage is what I'd hope for. If we can do it using this approach and be half decent to watch most of the time, I'm in.

100% on everything Paul said. Tough to go out like that but positive signs for the future.

Marcus Rashford nominated for an MBE there 🤣

Ah she's messin' now god bless her.

Luis Suarez mentioning over the weekend that he was nearly reduced to tears because he wasn't allowed to train with the Barcelona first team.

I'm nearly reduced to years every time I read that he was paid €340,000 a week at Barcelona.

He also said that he had to take a drop in his wages to continue his dream of playing football in Spain - a paltry €190,000 a week.

Oh and a €14 million contract release pay-off from Barcelona.

He just wanted his pound of flesh.

I guess the Glazers want to be hated by everyone in football now, not just United fans, by hopping on board with FSG's Big Picture plans.
