The Premier League, like the Six Nations, will hang on until the grim death before cancelling the whole thing. They have too much money wrapped up in it to think otherwise, as infuriating as that is.

They're the most cuntish team ever but they had a game plan and it worked. Karius II didn't help matters, of course.

And now the future of the league is in doubt. Talk about it being declared null and void, postponed, calling league positions as they currently stand. Mad stuff.

Athletico well deserved that, the other night. Klopp's 'proper football' comments can GTF as well. They were beaten, simple as.

As a Liverpool supporter, "Would you take the league title under conditions of a global pandemic?" gives whole new meaning to those start of season "I would have bitten your hand off for it" scenarios.

Premier League's binned until 3rd April anyway. Quite surprising, as I thought they would have simply suspended it all together.

The fact that it's coming from the highest levels down that our lockdowns are only going as far as the end of March hopefully gives a bit of a clue as to when they believe this thing will calm down by.

Can you imagine if it was called null and void? I dislike Liverpool intensely but even I couldn't take too much joy from that, t'would be an absolute injustice.

I would have imagined they're over the finish line anyway so keep the results and finish it as it is.

Would have understandably caused huge fuss on the relegation/CL spot end of things though!

They can't just hand it to them either, despite it being 99.9% certain they will win the league, it would be tainted for all time, plus as you say, you can't relegate lads before the fat lady sings.

I live in Madrid and it's interesting how the outside world perceives football here. Real Madrid remind me of Kerry in the GAA, or at least their approach to football. Players are expected to want to die for the club and the boos come when the crowd feel like someone isn't shaking a leg. There is also an expectancy that you will push to the last moment, you don't give in etc. Lots of boggers and posh gits follow Real but it's not all negative. I worked in the area of the Bernebeu and from talking to people who work in the club I began to admire the way they think, Florentino Perez gets a lot of shit in the media but anyone who works there says he's a very decent guy. Of course there's the arrogance that comes off the club and the British/Irish media really have it in for La Liga and Spanish football in general, which, in my opinion, has a far higher skill and coaching level than most of what we're seeing in the Premiership.

The Premiership is only catching up in that regard by basically buying in all the talent from the likes of Spain and it's definitely had a very posiyive effect. Athleti should be the team I follow, but I found the whole 'modus operandi' of the club and supporters to be against what I look for in a team/club. It a kind of small man envy, they'd prefer to win dirty, get lads sent off, approach the game in a negative fashion instead of dying on their shields. I remember watching the Champs league final where they were winning until that last 30 seconds..if they had had guts they could have gone 2 up but Madrid just kept fighting and you had to admire it. That's why they're know as 'Patheti' here.

It'll be back again, behind closed doors or something. Too much money involved.

Do you think the appointment of Diego Simeone in 2011 was mainly responsible for the 'small man envy, preferring to win dirty, get lads sent off, negative approach' etc.
Or has that always been the Atleti 'modus operandi'.All I know is that they beat Liverpool both home and away in the last 16 of the Champions League.
They must have a little bit of class about em to do that.

I'd also say Real are well known for their shithousing and trying to get players sent off.  Sure they had Ronaldo and Ramos playing together for 10 years! 😂

Going to be interesting seeing how the PL goes. I mean, I'd find it absolutely hilarious if it was voided and stopped Liverpool winning. But it would also mean Arsenal finishing out of Europe when they've been playing well and have a good chance of making it, especially with Jose doing his third season act after three months with Spurs. If European football still goes ahead next season...

Then there's the timing of when they could be played with a lot of players contracts up in June, and if transfers could go ahead with a season still in play

I think it will have to be voided.Playing games behind closed doors won't matter, when you already have players and managers infected.

As a Liverpool supporter, they simply can't void the season. Naturally the majority won't agree but fuck y'all.

As a Celtic fan I agree - both teams are top far ahead to not be handed the league if no more games are to be played

Yeah but it wouldn't be totally fair to relegation teams, Euro qualification and consider promotion in the championship with some teams needing to play play-offs. It's a messy decision.
