Absolutely zero interest in it, a closed off league with no promotion or relegation just seems far too stale and safe to me. All about a money making exercise over genuine competition. Saying that I've very little interest in the Champions League either these days though

What I would ideally like to see, which will never happen because there wouldnt be as much money, but sure...

-CL sticks to just league champions in a straight knockout, give smaller clubs at chance at getting further with a few favourable draws

-Direct a huge chunk of the CL money to the Europa League to spread the cash around more

-Reinstate the Cup Winners Cup, always loved that competition

Yeah, it's a bag of shite I think. Good suggestions there as well, I still buzz off the CL, but it'd be pretty exciting revamped as a straight knockout with 2 legs per round.

Gary Neville isn't pulling any punches and I have to say I agree with his take on it for the most part... https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/12279748/gary-neville-disgusted-by-premier-league-clubs-involved-in-breakaway-european-super-league-plans

It will kill nearly everything that makes the game great. No youngsters coming through, no romantic European wins/losses, no Championship sides coming up and earning a CL place or even the league (Leicester). It will undermine the domestic leagues and history more or less will be brushed over.

Quoterelegate Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal because those three clubs are the history of this country and they should be the ones that suffer most.

"They should know better.
He's pretty spot on, but this is just ignoring the fact that the owners are all Americans who mostly view their clubs as another asset in their portfolio.

And its hilarious that Arsenal are included, and I say that as a fan. One Cup Winners Cup trophy 27 years ago followed by decades of underachievement in Europe, but they're an "elite European club"...

I'm pretty disappointed that Chelsea are gone in for it as well, but they have a certain lack of class about them a lot of the time so I shouldn't be surprised. I hope the arse falls out of it before it gets going.

A sad day for football if this comes to pass,we all knew it was coming, but still a bit of a shock.

Be interesting to hear what players have to say,

Jose sacked from Spurs.

His PR team are suggesting that he was fired earlier today for refusing to take the first team out for training in protest after hearing that Tottenham Hotspur elected to become a founder member of the European Super League.

Not that Spurs are 7th and have one win in the last 6 games.

The man shovels more horseshit that a Cheltenham caretaker.

Wouldnt surprise me if he pulled that stroke as he was a dead man walking and it was only a matter of  time before he was sacked.

The new super league can go and fuck itself. Hopefully the backlash will kill it. If it goes ahead I won't be watching it. It's the very antithesis of sport.

Yeah the more I think about it the more annoying the idea is. I know the sport is awash with money as it is but this is a special type of greed and I suppose it's the inevitable consequence of all the foreign investment that the shareholders don't give a fuck about the league they are destroying

Exactly

Why anyone would want the poisonous cunt as a manager I'll never know. His glory days are well behind but clubs keep throwing money at him.

I dont know will there be any middle ground found here, the 12 seem determined to plough on.A few things-

The owners of these clubs wont give a fuck if they are booted out of their domestic leagues.,theres a huge pay day with this new SL.

Players banned from international football,i think huge numbers of them wont be overly bothered. Representing your country is less and less of a draw compared to years back.

Fans of these clubs that boycott wont make a tapp of difference, gate receipts are only peanuts in all this. This is about TV revenue, sure traditional football fans in Europe might not watch it.But half of Aisia,India,China etc will tune in , driving this.

If a deal is struck where these clubs can still play in their domestic leagues, the games will be a farce.Imagine the weakend teams these clubs will put out for regular premier league games?.It will totally devalue domestic competition.

I love football, but ive been drifting from giving a fuck about it at the highest level for a long time now.The game was never going to come out looking good once American and oil money got into the English game.

They can super league it all they want..if no one watches/pays for it on tv...and no one turns up at the ground when fans are let back that will soon sort it out....

As a Liverpool fan..I hope we get turfed out of every other competition if it goes ahead...

As a Spurs fan I had to laugh at their statement last night where they considered themselves and Arsenal to be top European clubs. Why exactly? Jesus wept, barely qualified for Europa last year, knocked out by a "lesser" team, and will be lucky to qualify this year. Much rather see non "top 6" teams qualify ahead of them.

Other "top 6" teams haven't much to crow about either, but yet seem to think they should be at the top table sneering down on better teams in England and elsewhere.

Re Jose, guess they feel fine to fire him now that SL money will cover the buy out. Couldn't wait a week to see how the final went, pathetic. Pep must be dreading how to set his team up against a Ryan Mason team, could be a long sleepless week.
