Big NIN fan meself.  The Downward Spiral being my favourite closely followed by The Fragile.  Astfgyl's megamix of it is unreal.  Pretty much a fan of everything he has gotten up to bar The Slip and Year Zero, with the exception of a song or two off them, but also think he is at his best pre With Teeth.   Love the first four Ghosts, wasn't gone on the recent two.

Anyway for the Fragile, I remember hearing for the first time not long after it came out and I was obsessed with it.  It's such a class album, designed for the long listen of both discs too, and such a wealth of material around it on the B-Sides and vinyl/tape only tracks that you feel like you could explore that era of NIN forever.

Stuck this on earlier for the first time in ages! The Whispering Sons link a bit back in the thread reminded me of this lot for some reason (great recommendation!). Polish post punk from about 1986. Absolutely brilliant album.

No lads, stop it. I've been on this forum for years and we never talk about NIN..

Worth mentioning VHK – (Vágtázó Halottkémek) Galloping Coroners

Trying to navigate Hungarian to figure out their albums as they've tonnes of albums to choose from with similar art and colours ,but I´d personally recommend A Semmi Kapuin Dörömbölve, as a starter and the track below is from Az Éden Visszahódítása, Vol. 1

Where Hardcore meets Shamanism, best known for their rapturous live shows, VHK  have been going since 1975, but little is known of them outside of Hungary it appears. Fronted by Attila Grandpierre also known as a astrophysicist. 70 next month he wi´ll be and still going strong, in great shape altogether!

Great live show here !

I asked a taxi driver in Budapest if a foreigner had ever spoke to him in his own language, 'never, not a single word'.

Listening to Fishtank Ensembles 'samurai over Serbia', great mix of gypsy and myriad of other styles. Cool band.

Not surprised to hear that!

For all the Irish medical students over in Budapest you'd expect they´d acknowledge a cúpla local focal while based there.

Funnily enough theres is a connection between the Scottish Mac's and the Magyars.we'er pretty close too, a Budapestian pal was telling me so. And there is definitely a tribal connection from way back ,you have to have ample free time to look at the place names that still exist to see the running dots.

These next three projects are all the handiwork of one Irish fella:

Instrumental ambient BoC vibes:

Minimalist electro....crooner?

And then there's Blind Yackety, an abandoned 7 piece band project releasing this album 6 years after the fact. Gotta give this one a few minutes to kick in. A very, very rare kind of eclectic mix these days; prog and stage musical? I'm pretty sure a few of you will really dig this:

I'll give Blind Yackety a chance!

Melissa who fronts Adorior did a project not long back and thought this would be a curious share

Mesmerizing  melodies alongside strings with Charles Hedger - Mayhem & Giovanni Imparato for those more familiar with him, and other well tuned musicians on this project.

Picked up a copy of Giant Steps by John Coltrane on LP in Tower today for 11 quid, I've been meaning to get more into jazz lately so it seemed like a good place to start.

That and A Love Supreme are probably the best to get into him. Or you could go mad and start with Interstellar Space.

Two incredible albums. Some of his stuff is too off the wall for me.

Says the lad who frequently puts up panic attack-inducing death metal and dungeon techno

It's funny how jazz does that though. I'm only now getting the missus to come around to it, but for the most part she can't stand any of the 'free' stuff for more than five minutes. Nor can I most of the time to be honest.

🤣 Ya, I'd have no bother listening to an hour of power electronics but free jazz is often too much. At least for now anyway. Strange indeed.
